Will you be able to render other 2D/3D objects onto the top of a playing AVI/MOV file ?

you could always texture a plane with the AVI then place 3d objects anyway you like.

would using this method still produce normal frame rates or would it cause alot of slow down?

Hopefully it should be constant (at least it is if what you want to do in 3D isn't complicated).

One other thing - is the movie automatically scaled to the game's screen resolution, or does it just play at its created size?

I would think that it would depend on the size of your plain...

When used as a texture the movie will scale to the size of the object face (obviously). As for playing a movie full-screen (using the animation commands) and sprites on-top I've not tested it, but to be honest I think it will. I'll check later on if someone emails me and reminds me

Cheers,

Rich

I'm sure that can be arranged..

So a movie can be used as a texture - very interesting...
