Hey, I decided to call my FPS shooter Heist, that was the name of my old FPS that I didnt complete. So ive used the name again.

Im releasing an early demo to show some gameplay and effects...You can detroy crates and kill enemys in this version...(Note. The enemies are place holders for now and in the final version they will be animated (and probably be different models))

The game has 3 weapons (the crowbar is not programmed yet though) The MP5 and Shotgun are programmed and can be activated my pressing Shift for the shotgun and enter for the MP5.

And its W,A,S,D for normal movement and the left mouse button shoots...Also new for this demo I have added lighting...I may improve this for future versions...enough...Play the demo!

Get it at my site along with some screenshots:http://www.powow.com/dbalex/

(Note. The screenshots are poor quality JPG's)

Have Fun. And please reply!

Oh my god...

The gun is completely... it's... It's pointing in a strange direction.
And suddenly it dissapears. And then you can't shoot anymore. And when you jump, you can stay in the air if you keep pressing space. And when you jump, the player position resets itself, and you go back to the beginneing.

That was the most important for now I think.

But keep it up.

Debug thing? Ok.

I just walk around and the gun disappears.

I'm going to try this demo a few times and give you some feedback

I just think i pick up the crowbar. And I have another bug:

I can stand and shoot the enemies from a distance without them even taking the slightest notice of me(that's not the point). If I stand and shoot at one enemy, everyone around him dies. And the bullets are flying through the crates. I killed an enemy by shooting him through a crate.

Yeah there are a lot of bugs still.

EG. Bullets dont get deleted when they hit an enemy/crate/surface etc.

So ill get working on that...

Anyone else tried the demo?

Yeah unless thats only a very small chunk of the level thats that dark you will need to lighten it up a fair bit, but from what i can see it looks good.
Keep it up !

<EDIT>
ok just played the demo and a few suggestions,
* please use scancodes to detect keypresses so we can walk foreward and strafe at the same time.
* Can we have some collision with crates?
* Once i had picked up the crowbar i couldnt get back to my gun.

Other than that nice start, will be great with sounds !

Thanks Baggers.

Im working on collision with crates...Need to find a way to do really simple sliding collision with objects in game...

And to get your gun back use Shift for your shotgun and Enter for the Mp5.

(the instructions were on my wesbite... )

edit: Im using scancodes now btw...So movement is fixed.

it's looking good but the lighting seems a little odd from the bullets (look at the walls as the bullet travels) and the collision for the bullets is a little buggy.
i noticed you had an ak47 as the weapon name, in an old screenshot, for what is now the mp5 so i thought you might ilke an ak47 (attached).
the model is textured using the photograph which i used as a reference so i don't own copyright for the texture but unless it's being sold i don't really see a problem. i made the model in milkshape but it's just a textured .x export in the zip (with the texture), if you want any other formats then i'll be happy to send them.

im using the itersect object command...(im using Kensupens sliding .x collision from the snippets board as a base for my FPS).

I just wanted to know whether theres a faster method?

(it could also be u5.8...its made DBPro really slow on my machine anyway)

Sparky's collision ?
Works nice and fast for me, the best bit is that you can set up complex collision on objects which boosts speed greatly.
