I'm curious what is the recommended way for displaying tiles in game for best speed? Using matrixes, or just using bitmap/image functions? I'm working on a top down view 2D game, with side scrolling. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I used sprites in my tile engine, that was very fast in DBPro but quite slow in DBC. I imagine a textured matrix might be faster in DBC, but you wouldn't get such precise graphics.

Well, using sprites would explain the slow down, I would think. I know in most languages, you'd copy the proper tiles to the screen, then sync. Using sprites seems like it would be overkill for tiles.

use the paste image command (damn you ppl) it does no slow down what so ever. Take a look at my lode runner game, that uses tiles, Im using PASTE IMAGE command for that.
