One of my team members (Jonny) is having difficulties exporting from XSI to DirectX while retaining animations. He just ran out so I figured I'd post his problem for him Here's his description of the problem

Quote: "one leg gets mirrored.. and the other takes the weight info off the first leg"

Does anyone have XSI, and could give us a little insight on exporting to DirectX correctly?

Any help would be appreicated,
RPGamer

I wasnt gonna post this, sinse I didnt wanto fill the forum with all kinda of stuff. But sinse RPGamer already did, I must give some additional information.

Mesh and Texture exports just fine.. the Rig is my problem.. quoting myself:
Quote: "one leg gets mirrored verticaly.. and the other takes the weight info off the first leg in its original position"

I figured that out by moving stuff around. Even when importing the file back into XSI I see the same problems. The workflow in XSI is great.. but problem like this messes with my head.

Thanks for posting this though RPGamer. I owe you one

I finally got a working rig, not weighted very well yet though. but FINALLY! ((does .x export dance))

when exporting to DirectX from any software what so ever.. keep it simple! if you feel you're doing it simple enough.. when then there must be a simler way!

now to see if it handles animation
