Tivo transforms television? I've nver seen one person with it (Sky+ n the other hand, I know loads of people with)

Facts are meaningless.
You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true.

Bad advertising and not linking very well to the best broadcast system (Sky) methinks. I have Sky+, and I thought it was wonderful. After about 6 months I start to think a few things could be easily improved if they could be arsed.

1. It makes a low annoying humming noise (even if not using the HD - even if live rewind is off!!!!) - Sky said they were looking into fix *several* months ago. This is with 160 BTW.
2. Guide is good, but only lasts a week. Compounded with the fact that you lose the series link if the next episode isn't until two weeks away . WTF?
3. They could update the GUI look a little. Tivo looks a lot better. And when you have like 4 pages of recordings it can be a bit conky to look through. You get the idea they designed the font around someone who sees through milk bottles ie. f**king great big font
4. They still haven't fixed that f**king Dolby digital sound dropout problem!!!!!!
5. Recording two things at once, plus playing back a recording at the same time is pretty good, but it can be a bit confusing when a clash occurs. Esp. when a series link creates a new recording item, but doesn't actually inform you (unless you actually go find out in the program recording bit) that there will now be a clash with two other programs at the same time (ie. one will not be recorded - or only partially). It should pop up no matter what to inform you there is a problem

Just venting steam... trust me, it is a fantastic device. Just a few tweaks....

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Nah I dont think MS can buy Google if they wanted. Nor do I think MS can beat them. MS has a knack for crushing its competition, however until now the competition has always been pretty weak. As long as those 2 guys are in charge, I dont think youll see MS getting the best of Google. But I could be wrong.

Video was pretty interesting though I think "Googlezon" is so lame!

That was hilariously biased. The simple fact the New York Times-worshipping people who made that don't seem to grasp is that computer edited content is by definition free of bias: it would have to be hard-coded in by humans to exist. Google News offers a more unbiased and honest look at news by giving a vast list of news sites than any individual news site or paper could possibly hope to, no matter how many "perspectives" they give on a story. In short, bring on the new era already, and screw the media empire loving alarmists

By the way MS already made Google an offer, I think it was last year if I'm not mistaken. They were rejected by Google, so it's not as if MS could just purchase them now.

Who cares if it's happening. We control our own content rather than having it spoonfed to us by biased reporters, isn't that a good thing?

Seriously? Me. It is simply the best way to get unbiased news coverage. Their servers automatically grab the content from hundreds of sources and categorize them all very nicely. It's great!

I use it too. However you need those biased sources for it to work. And although it is a great way to get unbiased news. That only works if you personally strive to get unbiased news. That is if you read several articles on the same subject from different points of view. That means reading Al-Jaesira (spelling?) from time to time on the Iraq war as an example. Otherwise your own personal bias will bias the news. Your own personal bias does that anyway, however it does more so unless you strive to read articles from all points of view.

To hell with google, I'm afraid of EA taking over the world. The NFL was only the first step...

As for google news, its my homepage. Some of us like to keep up with current events, and google news is one of the few unbiased sources of information as it drags from both the right and the left. I read it about 5 times a day on week days (when theres nothing to do, just read teh news!), and 3 times a day on weekends (during each of my meals).

I <3 google though, I really do. It brings me such good search results, almost 2 gigs of email space, froogle (not you goorf ), and a great image search.

Good flash movie BTW. I like the voice over.

Sigs blow.

never used Google news, don't ever plan to.
Google is a stock market entity, Microsoft offered them a deal for around $4million; Google refused, so Microsoft redesigned thier search engine.

If that fails, next year they'll just start a hostile take-over.
Google's net-worth is in the $8-10million mark, Microsoft make more than $480million per quarter. If Microsoft want, they could buy-out Google then still have enough left to buy every employee thier own home.

Who cares ways Microsoft dominate everything else. Googles just a single site search engine, and the only reason they're considered the 'best' is because they place spyders everywhere to access sites unless your specifically write code to prevent it.

Pisses me off how the day are now gone when you had to register your own site online... Noooo Spyware is sodding everywhere but in a 'legal' fashion when it comes to your websites.

Still the Flash was classic heh

Um, Google has a market cap of $50.79 billion... it would cost Microsoft just a *tad* more than $8-10 million

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=goog

And MS offered a reported $10 billion for Google... more than your $4 million claim. But yes, Google's search engine eats MSN's for breakfast. There's so many extra hidden features that make Google more than worthy of its king of the search title.

Google's free float is still far less than 50%, so a successful hostile take-over is very unlikely.

The animation was awesome.
'twas just like watching a doco about it!
Brilliant.

The great thing about Google is that EVERYTHING is free
Anything that they charge for is pushed off to a different site ( such as http://www.keyhole.com/gm ), and taked off the google.com page.

Absolutly brilliant
I would much prefer a free service, that is clearly so much better than anything that costs money, to take over the world than a company that buy's ivory backscratchers with it's customer's money instead of fixing their damned website ( personal hate, so don't flame me for it, just go to hell instead and you can have all the flames you could ever need ).

Jess.

The new MSN search is quite interesting, but all its features amount to copycatting of what Google's had for a long time now. And they really don't seem to understand that the reason people chose Google over Yahoo, etc is that it is cleaner, simpler and has context ads where they won't get in the way-- MSN search displays are overcomplicated and ad stuffed. Not nearly as bad as Yahoo, but they're obviously not going to go anywhere with it until they clean it up.
