Could someone please help me texture this wheel? The colors get all messed up in DarkBASIC Pro when I do it. I'd like the rim and spikes gray (127,127,127) and the wheel black (0,0,0). Is a Caligari Object file ok? It's attached.

Thanks , but is it possible to have the rim and spikes a gray color? They showed up white in DBPro.

What program do you use? Caligari GameSpace & TrueSpace seem to mess it up.

They should be grey overall... The specular highlights will be white however...

Here's my attempt.

Wheel is more grey.

Also reduced your poly size 40%

teffo,
1) Where'd the center of the wheel go?
2) I'd like the rubber tire part black and the inside and spikes gray

Oops, looks like TS6 broke up the hierarchy and only saved the rim.

Here's another shot at it - take a look

Terribly sorry to bother like this but:

One question, is TrueSpace6 free?
I'm stuck with 3.2 and it stinks.
The loading is all messed up.
When I load your file, the center disappears, the 4 main compass direction spikes move to the center, and the rest disappear.

No TS6 isnt free, your not going to find an awesome modeller (depending on your definition, some people consider wings the greatest thing since sliced bread) for free. I like milkshape, and it only cost 20 bucks.

Some thoughts on GameSpace and Truespace, when used with DarkBasic -- a couple ways to avoid white or gray parts on your model when you SWEAR that you'd textured it:

1. Always use actual texture files, even if you're applying a single color and it means making files like "red.jpg", "green.jpg", and using them. When I use the little rainbow option to paint colors onto a limb, DarkBasic usually doesn't use the color when I load the model -- neither does the Microsoft Directx Mesh viewer, for that matter.

2. If you're saving your models in .X format, press the "options" button before saving your model and make sure to DISABLE the option that saves the entire texture file path as part of the model. This will save your textures in the same file as your model, which is the default location for DirectX if no path exists in the model file. If you hardcode the path when you save your model, then redistribute it or move the original texture file to a different directory -- that part of the model will show up white in DB.
