Article, what's wrong with c strings?
http://www.idinews.com/string.html

Take a look here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=c+dll+call+return+a+string&btnG=Search
Maybe you should move on to C++

Read the DarkBasic Pro instructions for how to return strings from a DLL.

If its not for DBPro, then look at the links given.

hmmmm
C++
well just need to figure out how to use that friggin ms C++ toolkit thingy
although i follow the instructions to make a simple program yet something goes wrong somehwere always

also
i use bcx to "template" a program then use pelles c to add more power
such as my dbp dll used bcx to make the core of the function then i just powered it up and added appropriate things(such as stringtables) in C

also bcx can compile to c++ but it is only vc++
