Hi,

Can anyone recommend a way to add/edit the audio of a .avi file? Basically I want to overlay samples/music over the top of a pre-existing avi - any suggestions? Free/open source software always good

Cheers!

I'd check Sourceforge, but I don't think there are any. I know of a few trial software, but the best I can think for editing which is free (and don't laugh) is Microsoft Movie Maker.

All Windows have it installed as Standard (since Millennium Edition), it's actually quite good. Only exports WMV though, which actually isn't all that bad given you can use Media Encoder to convert it to WM9, which is quite compact and good quality.

DivX, WM9, and Bink tend to be roughly equal in terms of compression, playback sizes, and quality.

virtual dub is pretty good, if u get stuck tho I personally own final cut pro HD if u want to send it to me.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself
