i just got a book on C++ and i came with a CD which had some software on it but It came with the Direct X SDK aswell.

Its grght it gives you C++ source to load objects sounds and videos its brilliant

The book was called the beggining of 3D game Creation and it came with the .net frame work

im starting to learn C and C++

It was the DX7 SDK that got me into 3D coding, the VB code was pretty nice - nicer than it is now, I think they've made things too complex and tried to be too clever. I mean, in the DX7sdk for VB you could throw objects together with code if you liked, it seemed to have a lot of access to the cool stuff, nowadays I doubt I could face learning DX properly, I'm too cosy in my DBPro comfort blanket .

I remember my first 3D app, a variant of the old paper plane demo, I made it into a screensaver and put tons of paper planes in different colours out of view, so you'd start with a black screen, then it's be invaded by these paper planes that circle round the centre of the screen and swoop about the place. Seemed to run beautifully on my old P200 with a software DX renderer - I showed it to a C-guru pal of mine and he just vented about how VB is the enemy and I should have done it in C and in a Linux OS. He's working for the company that made 'State of Emergency' now, poor guy does'nt stand a chance of making anything cool with that company.

I tried to download it , It was downloading at 2kb/sec on 500kb BB :S

And David are you using sharpdev? I have some DX code for you if you do .

I had TrueVision working in C#--- even had it running in GameBasic, but D3D was incredibly easy and there are no license fees, so I switched

I did DX in c#, I just fancied having a go at TV3d (I liked the look of it, after using it with VB6).

(I'm lazy, just fancied having conveniance of dbpro with language of c#)

The problem I was having with sharpdev is that there's something about hte TV com library that it doesn't like. Version 6.5 I think will be full .net, so I'll wait until then.

Or I could just have a go with c# express

Ahhh ok I didn't know you weren't using VS.NET... yeah, I wouldn't even attempt TV3D with Dev-C++ or Sharpdev...

At the moment im learning how to make and reneder a 3d teapot

Thow at the end of the book i should have made a tank game which has: Particles, lights, Matrix, 3d objects (.x files), A menu, ECT

AND ITS ONLINE!!!

Im guessing so because it says you can make a Networkable tank game on the cover...If it is I might get it, Is it really understandable?

Yep thats the book, thow it dose nat explain very well if you dont have the .Net software. I am using the .net runtime

If that's the book then it's using C#, not C++ I have it too, and I think it's pretty good actually.
