Im currently making an online game as you know they may be tons of polygons loaded up from other players in the area, creatures etc. But i got an issue, i have started making the land and the map, or rather planet.
i have made the texturing small to make the island look bigger. But how many polygons can a 512MB ram load up at once?
Or anyone know a list of ram with polygons.

also anyone know how to get a gmax model into 3ds max 6? there are no direct importers so anything i can do for that?

thanks for any help, im sure you'll get listed on the credits page of the games site soon!

Characters should be about 2,000 - 3,000 poly's, weapons no more than 500 at the outer limit.

For land, load it up in sections, as needed. Never heard of a poly count for land; just go with what you need to get the recommended specs to run smoothly.
