Those of you who enjoyed this evening's episode of Doctor Who with the enhanced and, if I do say so, awfully scary nasty evil Dalek baddy should enjoy the following game:

Let the exterminations begin!

Liked the program - couldn't stand the game...

I must admit I was expecting a lot more action in that one, but it was very good... However, what was the point of getting the DNA of Rose ? What did it expect to gain from it ?

Dalek was certainly an interesting episode.

In some ways I preferred it when the Dalek was a more one-dimensional character though.

I liked its snide remark to the Doctor though:

"You would make a good Dalek."

actually, it took some of roses energy so that it could escape from 'the cage'. It didn't mean to take her DNA, that happened by accident.(I think)

btw, that game is wierd...

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

Imagine how fast the Daleks ISP must be if it downloaded the whole internet.

I also think that the daleks are brilliant as a 1 dimensional character. I also doubt that we have seen the last of them.

Well if you think about, if he has a search filter that gets rid of pr0n and warez.. that's like 90% of it right there

I do hope they're back, they always were my favourite bad guy.. probably because they look so ridiculous. The game is awesome though. There aren't many Flash gams that don't seem to lag so whoever the programmer of the BBC one is a pretty good coder.

Loved the whole selectable weapon systems too. There's about 12 upgrades to find, but you can only have 2 at a time. Kept me entertained for a while last night before recluding back in to Guild Wars. Does feel like an older game... like Short Circuit for the Amstrad but much quicker and better graphics.

Still whoever said those games should've actually stopped being made. I always had lots of fun playing the LucasArt Desktop Adventures, like Indiana and Yoda. Games you could just pick up for 5minutes at work continue then put down without needed to get further, but knew you'd get back to it. Addictive but not in a 'I must keep playing' way.

It's meant to be camp and crappy - good entertainment if you ask moi.

I'd rather some light hearted and laughable fun than something gay like Star Trek that worships its self and is lame in the process.

Having Dalek again, it is better the second time around - however, I still think the Dalek should have realised what would happen in DNA of a human was absorbed and should have protected itself from the changes.

I'm sure it has been a very series, what ever that means. The fact that its English has nothing to do with it. Elton John is English, and I have nothing against him . Clearly you're one of those people that thinks if someone else has a different opinion, they are wrong..

I think the new series is awesome... and I agree, it's very English.
But then what else would you expect from the series.

It's weird because on the one hand you still have the budget costumes, and you still have some budget CG stuff. Then on the other hand you have some pretty class extremely well presented CG.

The acting isn't too bad, not like it's super fantastic but then the main problem is they're trying to serious the story, while keeping the program itself traditional. It works to a degree, but sometimes it's a tad chringe-worthy.

Thing is it's like that in a good way rather than just talentless bad acting. I don't like the new storyline much, as it's trying to be too intense or just hint at the real goal of the series... but the program as a whole has been awesomely fun so far.

Like how they started adding realistic humour to Stargate and Atlantis. I find moments where they start saying something then loose track of what they're saying only to say something random, bloody funny. SG-1 seriously improved in it's 'realism' of the characters while complete unrealism of the storylines since Richard-Dean has taken over producing.

Indeed - its like Star Trek - thats exceedingly American.

Some people at IMDB have noticed that The Doctor hasn't left Earth Orbit (with the exception on End of the World), so hopefully in the next series they'll start visiting other planets.

I thought it was a great episode. I actually genuinely felt something for the Dalek and it was good to have it actually think and question its own existence, rather than go on the usual rampage they do. I do love the way that the Time War is being slowly unraveled each episode - we're learning more and more about what happened, who was involved, etc. It was good TV, even for a totally non-Whovian like myself.

Next weeks looks like a proper alien planet, but we'll see!

Quote: "It was funny when he introduced that dude> "Here is blah blah He OWNS the internet" hahahaha."

I liked that part - because at first I thought it was a BBC "haven't got a clue" script flaw and then Rose says "don't be silly, no-one owns the Internet" and he says something like "see.. people still think that" and whole mini conspiracy theory is wrapped up in a quick exchange of words The script was good, the sound effects of the soldiers guns pitiful. I loved the bullets vanishing before they hit the Dalek, I thought he was going to go all Neo on us for a second.

That's the first episode I've seen, and I'll probably watch more 'Who' on the strength of it. I remember being scared of the Daleks as a kid (hell most people my age do!), that one was fairly tame though. I like the part where the Dalek realised he was the Doctor then went daft. That excited shrill of EXTERMINATE! just oozes nostalgia . The part with the stairs was pretty cool, but obvious that they'd have thought up some way to handle them, the sprinkler part was fairly clever for a Dalek as well.

Personally I love the shape and design of the dalek, I hope they make toys so I can buy one .

I've got a feeling that the Dalek probably went away to make more Daleks, I mean there's got to be a troop of them or there's no point. I hope there's a big battle at the end of the series and the Doctor and Billie Piper both die - then Dr.Baker can come back and do one last series before he kicks the bucket, preferibly with an assistant who wears a standard size jaw, unlike Billie who usually just borrows David Coultards.

It'd be surprising if more Daleks turned up. Theoretically, the Doctor has killed the entire Dalek nation about 4 times.

1. The First Doctor thought he had destroyed all the daleks after their city on Skaro blew up, the very first time he encountered them.

2. The Second or maybe Third Doctor thought the Daleks were finished when he caused a number of them to be injected with the so-called "human element". He proclaimed their end during the civil war that erupted.

3. The Seventh Doctor thought the Daleks were finished at the end of Remembrance of the Daleks (broadcast in 1988). He fooled Davros into activating the Hand of Omega (the Time Lord's prototype remote stellar manipulator - the device used by them to create singularities, the power source of their time travel machines) and the Hand blew up the Sun around which Skaro orbited and thus destroyed the entire system in which Skaro is based, something like 1,000 years PRIOR to the creation of the Daleks. The Seventh Doctor again proclaimed the Daleks destroyed, although Davros was seen escaping the destruction of the Imperial Dalek mothership at the end of the final episode of the serial.

4. The Ninth Doctor claimed last Saturday that he'd destroyed the entire Dalek species in the so-called Timewar, whatever the hell that is.

And thats not even counting the near misses, such as the Fourth Doctor almost choosing to blow up all the Dalek labs in Genesis of the Daleks.

What I suppose all this shows is that the pesky creatures are amazing survivors.

I can confirm that the daleks do reappear in two episodes later in this series. They are just indestructable.

Their persistance is very annoying to the doctor.

PS: A lot of Trekkies claim that the whole "resistance is futile, you will be assimilated" stuff that the Borg keep trotting out is unique to TNG. In fact, its just been pinched almost verbatim from Dr. Who. If you watch some of the early Dalek serials, you'll hear them going around saying: "Resistance is futile! You will be exterminated!" Sounds familiar?

The Daleks would exterminate the borg in a second. Providing the borg dont have any stairs on the spaceship .

Although the dalek can tackle stairs, it has got to slow them down.

There is always one that manages to keep out of the action and lives to fight another day.

Hopefully we'll find out what the Timewar is by the end of series (it certainly involves the Timelords being destroyed by the Daleks), but nothing as to the cause of it has been mentioned.

Probably started when a Dalek wanted to open a cornershop on Galafrey...

The dalek got stuck in the lift, and had to blow up the building to escape. The timelords didnt take kindly to this and had to exterminate the exterminaters.

Not wanting to state the obvious (or start a whole time argument here) but isn't the fact that the Doctor can travel in time always going to jepordise any extermination of any race, Daleks included? I mean surely he could jump into a time where they still live. I'm sure it's all explained in an old episode somewhere, but it's always bothered me.

what I don`t get is how they could destroy the Timelords, how can you destroy a race that travels through time all the time <sic>?, you would think they would notice any Dalek attack (oh look dear...our whole race is destroyed in 20543ad, we'd better go round that year), pencil it in on their calendars and go round it timewise, Daleks turn up to do some exterminating and nobodys home, seems hard to kill a time traveling race, the Daleks can`t have time travel since they would just go back far enough for every race in the galaxy to be primordial goop incapable of fighting back and boil em where they slithered, seems so obvious, and the Doctor said the one secret the Daleks must never get was time travel...since he`s been to both ends of time they obviously didn`t get it since they where not there.

There are actually two different Dalek factions - the Imperial Daleks and the Renegade Daleks. See "Revelation of the Daleks" (Sixth Doctor) and "Remembrance of the Daleks" (Seventh Doctor). Both factions have time travel capability but, as the Seventh Doctor observed, its "very crude and nasty". He also said that utterly evil though the Daleks are, even they would not make the mistake of tampering with the fundamental nature of time.

This is also the answer to the perennial question of why, everytime something bad happens to the Doctor or his companions, he doesn't just go back in time and fix it. The answer that is always given is that this is basically against the inherent laws of time and that if you try, somehow you are thwarted. Otherwise you would already have achieved what you set out to do and so wouldn't have needed to do it in the first place. So there can't be any paradoxes.

As for the Daleks v. the Time Lords, they've tried to destroy the pesky Gallifreyans before. They tried to kill the high council of the Time Lords on Gallifrey in "Revelation of the Daleks" (Fifth Doctor) only to fail horribly. Mind you, the Time Lords have tried to kill the Daleks in "Genesis of the Daleks" (Fourth Doctor) only to fail just as badly. So its a nill nill no square draw.

Personally I don't like this timewar idea. Its difficult to see a race as incredibly power as the Time Lords falling victim to two dimensional baddies like the Daleks. This is, after all, a race that plays with stars on a whim.
