because FireFox users must constantly push the propogander in order to recruit new members... it's as bad as a bloody cult.

You know some of us have FireFox, but we don't see the need to a/ use it for every damn task that comes along or b/ constantly make sure everyone knows about what's going on.

Also I wouldn't consider downloads too viable. Given I've downloaded each build of FireFox a good 5-10x each.

So if you just count from the release version, that's about 35 downloads just from me. Let along everyone else online.

I don't trust that counter too much, since its just going up at a steady rate - which I find a little hard to believe; unless of course it is a cult and is constantly spreading at a steady rate with the whole world in an orderly queue to download it.

Simple... yet fun!

Doesn't *actually* mean that 50 million people are using it though.... I mean I've downloaded it onto about 5 PC's so far. And you have to count people who downloaded it, weren't that bothered, and went back to IE (which I did originally).

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great. I use it all the time, apart with programming ASP pages (doesn't seem to work on mine for what I want to do). And the odd thing here and there that for some reason just doesn't work. But apart from that, and the fact that forum text boxes (this one for example) doesn't quite work (doesn't word wrap nicely sometimes, and using an Emotie or Quote button puts it at the end of your text which is crap for editing posts), then it's really nice to use.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I'm using firefox right this minute (with about 10 window tabs active )

Other then the tabs, it's bookmarking is better and it's (allegdly) more secure, although i wouldn't recommend uninstalling IE, some sites only work/work best with IE (such as microsoft's site ). But it's a nice alternatively and is more Internet Explorer XP then internet Explorer is

Well done to them i say, even if it's only 10mil as opposed to 50, i wouldn't be complaining

Yeah, but they don't work weekends... and the helpline takes 12 minutes of musac listening before your even put through to an operator, at the nominal £.75

So in either case your pretty much screwed. heh

Firefox will soon rule over Internet Explorer. Give it another couple of years and you will see. Microsoft IE users are falling to FireFox every day, and lot's of them too(roughly 50,000,000). I can't wait until FireFox makes IE one of those "lesser browsers" that is hated among the world. I will be sooo happy when that day comes and one day, maybe even microsoft will crumble to the ground spilling all their money into my pocket(oh yea!).

We will just wait and see...

p.s. FireFox Rules!!!

Seeing as IE is clearly their primary commercial enterprise product that brings in the majority of their funds, that makes perfect sense!

Yey for Firefox However, I am using Mozilla right now (with five tabs open) for some simple reasons:

a/ Firefox takes too long to start up--when I get the urge to check the forums or to download something, I want it up NOW! Firefox takes like 5 secs on my compy compared with the 0.6 sec or so with Mozilla.

b/ Mozilla is being updated along with Firefox, so there's no real worries about loopholes. Especialy considering the gigiantic ones that IE has

c/ I don't trust the Firefox download manager for some reason. I'd rather have a choice or "open in default app, search for ways to open, or download to disc" instead of this auto d/l to desktop stuff. Sure I d/l stuff to my desktop a lot, but there's a lot of times when I want it to go stright into my music folder, or into my programming folder..

With that in mind, Firefox still has Mozilla beaten in two cruical areas:

1) Cooler logo. Red/yellow dancing dragons are much cooler than a friggin dinosaur
2) uhm well I guess that's it...

Hawk, mine doesn't auto d/l. You need to fix your settings.

Firefox rules. IE sucks.

All I know is that after using IE for a year, my family had 1400 objects found in an adware scan.

They've been on firefox for 8 months now and there have been zero since. Except that one, but it came from a downloaded application.

Personally, I could use any browser and avoid spyware, but for the computer illiterate, IE is a baaaaad, baaaaa aaa aaaaa aaaaad choice.

LMFAO... $50 says the original poster doesn't get it.

Over FireFoxes development, it has changed names more than Courtney Cox has appeared in court. If you've been such a long standing supporter, tell me what the name was prior to the current (0.7+ Beta) incarnation.

Amongst those who have used it for far longer than most people even knew it existed, it is pretty much a long standing joke about it's name changes.

Mozilla and FireFox have identical boot code. They both take just as long to commit to memory and start, if they don't then you much be using Mozilla '2.0 BS Edition'

Quote: "b/ Mozilla is being updated along with Firefox, so there's no real worries about loopholes. Especialy considering the gigiantic ones that IE has "

Although FireFox uses a majority of Mozilla code, they're not developed, maintained or updated by the same teams. FireFox and Mozilla do have seperate vunerabilities and updates. So... wrong on the second count. Let's see if you can go 3 for 3.

Quote: "c/ I don't trust the Firefox download manager for some reason. Oh so close, but the default option is to download to your Cache THEN decide what to do with the file. As it makes no odds to the end user except you have to actually acknowlage it downloaded and set your options afterwards... well it's just backwards but does identically what IE does.

Quote: "Really? I always thought it was....a...uhmn....erm....FireFox(fox with firey looking tail)?"

Depends how old his version is doesn't it.

I know that in the lifetime of Mozilla, Explorer, and FireFox...
All three have only provided me with Spyware warnings on occasions people have sent me links over MSN that send me to some warez or porn site. (habit of clicking while doing something then check what the heck it is later)

The only times I've EVER had virus have been through email, or custom delivered.

From my point of view, when just generally surfing the internet without going to any of these back-alley websites... all of the browsers are perfectly safe. Because I'm not venturing in to retard country.

With Explorer you know when your about to have a warning pop-up, it's when the pop-ups get through the guard, for Mozilla & FireFox however, the first warning I get is from my Firewall software telling me something is trying to do something it shouldn't be.

You know there's an option to change that, right? My Firefox asks where to download each file, every time. All it takes is a little poking around :p
