I noticed how long it's been since I have played with visual basic, and I really don't want to lose all the knowledge of it that I once had. So i recently picked up a copy of VB6.0 from my brother, and now i need to do something.

Name a project I should work on to test my skills thats possible in vb6. Any type of project, i don't care...just something. Anyone?

On second thought, something more like a business application. Something that could be used by many different types of businesses and be useful. Now any ideas?

Build me a level editor for a 2d platformer type game. I actually built one a while ago in vb6, but I lost the source to it.

Or you could build another IDE for DBPro

I'm starting to lose my knowledge of VB6, too. I've been using vb.net now instead. But VB6 does have its uses.

lol - sorry, I said tile editor because they are what i tend to randomly code when im itching to code something and i have no projects - keeps me upto scratch

Ok, how about a generic database editor? Allowing the user to input "entry name" and then "field 1" "field 2" upto how many fields you like. If you are feeling brave, allow the user to press an "add field" button so they can add as many fields per data entry as they like.

Store the database either in an ini file or try that mysqllite dll or whatever it was i saw once.

The application should also have a database viewer, which brings up all entries in a list box and when you click on one it displays the fields saved with that entry. Of course, being able to edit them from the same place would be good, as well as removing entries.

off you go now

Inventory software. Pack as many features in it as you can. Create a virtual business so that you know what/how to design the application. How much would a company pay you for good software like this? More than a sane person would think of.

Make an easy to use front end for breaking into the FBI. Drop down list for files to retrieve, emoticons displaying security alert status, etc.

"Grif, if there's one thing I've learned working with you, it's there there's always a margin for error."
"It's pronounced margarine, dumbass!"

create a contact management system
create a restaurant menu planner
create a front end to a database that keeps falling over on friday afternoons and earn yourself a lot of cash repairing it to no end.
build an interface for purchasing items as if the program is a cash register, that doubles up as a purchasing stock order taker.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself
