I'm starting to use Wings, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. What has me bummed though, is that it dosn't export to .x!

I've done some searches on this forum, and I haven't found an answer. Is there a free program to convert .wings to .x?
any ideas?
thanx.

I've downloaded LithUnwrap, but when I try to load in my 3ds object, it gives me an error that says my model has no UV coordinates. What does this mean? how do i fix it?

There would be nothign to display in the big box, as there are no UV Coordinates. Try exporting it, it should still work.

Look, I don't mean to sound dense here, but I really don't think this is working. I've loaded the modle (Table.3ds) I get the pop-up window (This model has no UV coordinates) and then I try to export, but it will only let me export UV, and it dosn't have an option to do it in .x.

Which is why I wanted to do this in the first place. blah...

am I doing something wrong?

wow lol. u dont use the file>export menu. u go back into file>model then save. then u choose what to save it as and it exports it. little confusing but its not above what a little poking around would have solved.

To give you model UV coords in Wings3D, this is what you
need to do.
First load your model, Put wings into object mode by clicking
on the solid red pyramid and select your object.
Now when you right click on your object, at the bottom of the
menu you should have a 'UV MAPPING' selection.
Click on that and a AutoUV window should apear on the right
of the screen.
This is where you will divide your object up using the face selection
and the right click menu to assign it different segment colors.
You can use the Segment By -> Feature Detection which will try to auto separate your model for you.
After Setting up your model segments, Bring up the Right click menu
and select Continue -> Unfolding. This will give your model its UV coords and will apply a generic refrence texture.

To get access to the material and textures you will need to open up
the outliner which off the top menu would be, Window -> Outliner.

I hope this helps.
