I had to dramatically cut down my larger scope of DT due to heaps less amounts of freetime
and practical control of the games flow got too large to handle.

I had some time over a weekend to get restarted with DT as ive been working on my other multimedia projects

Anyway the essence of the larger game can be found in this rudimentary demo.
this will eventually be a maze based hack n slash game with many varied media components
the dungeon walls could be shops or prickly vine obstacles etc.. but more of that later.

A* path finding will be added later because monsters are really dumb and suck at the momo

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Controls

Using the arrowkeys move around in the dungeon and collect gold piles
Using Spacebar to attack monsters and smash crates to get past if required.
Using f5 to display what a spell would look like, no mana loss to spells usage yet
P to pause
Q to show Quests completed even tho there is none yet in this demo
Using the - = [ ] keys to change the camera angle and distance * removed in final game

Extra Stuff
stand near the lanterns to heal yourself, even tho nothing hurts you yet, in this demo
rocks cant be broken
crates can be broken
lanterns cant be broken
monsters cant hurt you yet, you can eventually kill if you score a 1 out of 100 ( temp attack code, will be connected to the real combat code later)

Known Bugs
player controls are really basic and just plain suck and will be sorted later,There will be a better system for controlling the character
in later stages.
dwarf animations are really basic and in some cases too fast, this will be corrected later.
holding attack prevents from moving left / right, will be fixed later
monster suck as they can pass through walls and have dumb ai
its a little dark but i have to tweak the lights

Requirements : DirectX [9.0c]
CPU: Tested with 933mhz and higher
VIDCARD: Geforce 1 TNT2 m64 32meg or higher

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
please report the fps if its low

Looks good. Are those two different pics photoshopped in? or is that what the game actually looks like?

indi,
Very cool! It runs smoothly on my Dell Lattitude C610 laptop. Although I don't think the FPS is updating, as it stays at 961, the same as your pics.

Processor:Intel pentium III mobile cpu 1000MHz
Memory:256MB
DirectX Version:9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Graphics Card:ATI Mobility Radeon AGP 16MB Internal DAC:350MHz

Can hardly wait for future demos, of this.

Zen... look to the other side of FPS
Ran at a stable 66fps

It's definately an interesting game, but I'm not so keen on the rotation based movement. Works in Resident Evil, but not so great for trying to spin around to hit the other dwarf things.

The only real gripe i have is, the game is D-A-R-K. It'd probably be easier to see at night, but you need to add a gamma setting or brighten it up a bit. Given this is a much brighter than adverage setup (for doing art) then might be an idea to check that out.

Only bug I noticed was when swinging your weapon, it only continues the animation while your pressing Space. As soon as you let go it sticks in the last frame rather than finishing what it was doing.

nice, smooth and could be a lot of fun with more of it polished.

I was thinking that the FPS was a little high...

jw, are all mods here working on some sort of "super project"? Van B is doing one, David C/t(?) is doing mercs, Jeku is doing gamebasic...and you're doing this........

Nitrixik,
Don't believe them.

You see along with becoming a MOD, TGC provides them
with a horde of Nerdy Elves that do their bidding.

It has been spoken that if you stare at their MOD seal for
too long, you are instantly swooped up by the Green Dragon
and taken to their lair to create cool stuff.

Of course, I myslef am not foolish enough to test the legend.

"The Legend of the Green Dragon".
(I'm sure some remeber that wacky link off of TGC)

Seriously, There's some cool stuff brewing!!!!

thanks guys, I have worked on 0.8 a bit last night but want to get the combat more refined before the next post.

Ive worked on this game for ages, I had to cut it down in size tho due to scope creep and time allowed.

Indi - Good to see DT coming back. I'm sure everyone remembers it

I'm not liking the movement right now, i think raven said it right (dear god, did i just say that... haha j/k raven). Other then that, looks like shes coming together. Can't wait to see this in a finito form.

version 0010 is up now which has improved controls using the mouse.

the monsters still suck but they are now evil red spiders, AI is hard and not fully implemented yet.

potions and books are added, potions can currently give you more hps then your max hps gotta fix that.

tomes dont do anything yet but look great.
you still cant die yet but things are getting closer to a full level.

stopped the lanterns healing you as that slows the game down very bad with the coding i made to the 3d panels.

all in all its coming along well.

I had to test this version in 800x600x16 as the prior versions were 640 x 480 x 16. the 640 results are a lot better on my machine as i lost a fair whack of fps 60 down to 40's.

I realise this machine is old so i might have to go buy a new pc.

Very nice indi! With a bit of polish, this will be very excellent indeed! Wish I would've seen the thread sooner.

Got about 100fps
