Hi all,

I've put together another set of free skyboxes to give me an excuse to play around with the new Bryce 5.5. These use some of the new Bryce sky presets and lean more toward natural skies than the previous skybox releases, which were a bit sci-fi at times (but there are a few alien skies in this batch also).

There are 23 boxes in this series. You can preview and download here if you're interested:

http://www.vaxwar.com/gamedev/media/skybox7/index.asp

The minimum DBP code to load one of these into a scene would be:

Same license as the previous releases, if you're familiar with them -- royalty free for use in your games, including commercial if you contact me first and let me know you're using them as scenery, not just reselling them as content. Feedback always appreciated. Thanks.

Ahhh caffeine, the ultimate thank you!

I just purchased Rob K's BlueGUI and am using the file explorer to make an improved interactive skybox viewer. Kind of a mix & match this skybox with that matrix or terrain thingie. Should be done soon...

hmm im having problems with your sky box. Im trying to use calm #2.

It just makes a thick blinding white wall for me

this is the code i have:

intBoxNum = 20000
load object "media/trench/models/skybox/cielo.x", intBoxNum
set object light intBoxNum, 0
set object texture intBoxNum, 2, 1
scale object intBoxNum, 30000, 30000, 30
position object intBoxNum, 0,0,0
position camera 0,0,0

just what it said to use.

Apologies Fixxer, I was away from the Internet for a few days (gasp!)
So I just now saw your post.

A few questions, if you haven't given up on the skybox:

1. Which box are you trying to view? (Each of them has a name, although somewhat corny at times). It's possible I uploaded a dud, though I try to test them all first.

2. I'm assuming you have some camera handling code inside a game loop, that goes along with the code snippet I uploaded to view the box. Your camera handling would go in place of the comment that says "insert game loop here". That is, the sample code just loads the box and puts your camera inside of it. You'll still need something simple like CONTROL CAMERA USING ARROW KEYS inside a DO..LOOP with a SYNC call... Could you post the whole source of the program that's giving you the white wall?

Thanks, one of my faves also. Though every time I read the name it makes me want to "fix" what's "broken".
