many "mice" nowadays have more than two buttons. a middle button/wheel, and sometimes a fourth button on the side or somewhere else. i am making an rts and thinking of using the middle mouse button to command my units to do special abilities(rather than clicking a button then the area). is this a good idea? do too many people still have only two buttons to make this effective? perhaps an option to alt-click or something for those who dont have this hardware feature?

Truth suffers from too much analysis.

Many games have hot keys that do the same thing as mouse clicks. You could use a key and mouse wheel to execute the sam command.

Why not just create the mouse capability for those who can use it, and assign a key for everybody else?

thinkdigital...umm, isn't that what the guy who started this thread suggested in the first place?
