I use max6 but it sounds like the normals of the clone are on the wrong side. Select the cloned area and 'flip normals'. Or did you clone well? Maybe selected a wrong tickbox or something. Maybe it will help.

Beginners stuff mate

Select your object and convert it to a editable mesh if it isn't already. Go to the 'modifier' panel, and select your 'faces' wich need to be flipped (they will become red). Go to the surface properties of your selection and click 'flip'. In max6 it is then.

Good luck!

Post some screenshots from your model in max and db. Which program do you use for exporting to x?

Honestly. 3ds Max is the 2nd easiest 3d program ive ever used. Have you converted the instances half to mesh? and after that you have to select one hald and attach the other so they are in the same edit mesh. After this grab all of the middle vertexes and weld them all together. If you do/did this, everything should go as planned.

Oh but i have heard that putting 3ds format in DBC has some difficulties and unexpected problems. So if there isnt anything wrong with your mesh in 3ds Max try converting the object to .x format then put it into DBC
