I had my sig erased or banned because it was too big, it was smaller than tonnes of other sig's I've seen around here, much smaller. So why did it get removed... If the MOD that removed it could please tell me why I'd appretiate it, was it because there was too much colour in it that made it's size greater...?

Here's the sig pic: [href]http://photobucket.com/albums/y84/RUCCUS/?action=view¤t=RUCCUSLOGO.bmp[/href]

Your signature has been erased by a mod because the filesize was too large.

probably because it was '.bmp' format? If it was within size limits, try changing it to a '.jpg'

Physical size may not be too large but 170kb takes up too much memory, as suggested, convert it to a JPEG.

Well no actually David. Sigs and Avatars show the personality of a person If they have one then they want people to see it...wants the point of having the feature if no-one uses it?

EDIT: Did you know more people have clicked the link in my sig than they have the link in my website button?

No offence, but I see them just as banner ads. Nobody likes banner ads between each post

I don't want to waste time downloading banner ads just to try and persuade me in all their colourful delight to visit some site. If I want to go to somebody's site, I'll click the web link

You may do but I just checked my stats

To the one on my sig image I have had +1000 page imprints but some I know are mine so I checked the log that ignores me and I've had about 500 visits..

To my web link site I've had far less (can't check this)..

If I can be bothered I'll write a quick page to find out the number of unique visits I've had to each page

Hi Ruccus,

I erased your sig because it was well over 100KB in size. Ideally a sig image should be around 20-30KB or less. Your sig image is currently saved as a bitmap (BMP) file. Re-save it as a JPEG file (even ms-paint can do this), upload it, and then edit your sig again to include it. To change your sig back, just go to your Forum Profile.

Turn them off then

If I had bandwidth limitations then my Dad would be rather poor from all the charges when you exceed it

Personally, I have sig images turned off, and I also UnTick the "Load Images" Checkbox in FF.

Pretty much, the only thing I download from websites is the text. I even ban almost all Cookies, even log-in ones!

This is because of my interneting charge here at Uni ( Costs 11c per MB, which is a total rip-off and I'm poor enough as it is! ), but either way, I click the text links in people's sigs purely because they are text links. From my POV, it's nothing fancy, and nothing overly intrusive ( for all I know, it could be a 800x600 image, but, meh ).

Just pointing out that the smart browser clicks links because they're interested in content rather than flashy banners.

In summary: I agree whole-heartedly with David

Jess.

Oh, I can

If there's an external image ( which almost all shots are, otherwise, they have the "VIEW" link at the bottom of the post anyway ), a little empty CSS box is put in where the image would normally be, so I just right click >> View image, and there it is

It's just smarter browsing for me.

Especially on sites that just spam me with massive amounts of crappy ads and just general shite.

Also, it's opened my eyes ALOT to how bad web designers really are.
So many "professional" sites ( TGC Not being one of them, btw ) don't cater for Narrators, people who turn images off, and some even actually rely on the specific sizes of images for the layout of their page.
Really dodgy stuff!

Jess.
