Well it depends how you look at it, it is easier to create a FPS game with FPSC, it was created using DBPRO so its not better than DB just easier to use
Why dont you download the trial and try it out.

nah i just bought it becasue it sucks

actually this is a great drag and drop program but if you want to get the satisfaction of coding your own game and having many more possibilities then Dark Basic Proffesional is for you.

it depends, the graphics are outstanding, i doubt many people could create walls which the bumps are real
Yes, if you see wireframe graphics of walls
(press tab during test game for key to press)
you see all the bumps arent made in a paint program but are made in 3d, i was stunned!

I don't think it's that great... i mean, look at explosions... they're 2d fer cryin out loud!!

By using dbpro or dbc, u can do a much better job with explosions, special effects (like lens flares,etc...) and much more stuff!

Not to mention sound effects... they're all same...

I don't think fps creator is that good...

FPSC is awesome! It's for a different crowd than DB Pro, though. While DBPro is more open-ended, to create a shooter with the spectacular graphics, good enemy AI, and super-easy level design. Sure hardcore programmers will prefer DBPro, but for the rest of us, FPSC is the way to do it. I mean, come on- what other program less than $100 can create lighting effects like FPSC has with three clicks of the mouse (1 to open the markers tab, 1 to select a light, and 1 to place it.)

@Metron:
Than please leave the FPSC forums, and go back to all your neerdy DB friends.
@SarusX:
Rock on dude! I TOATALY agree with you. DBC and DBPro are better, but FPSC is good enough to make commercial games, si I reccommend using it.

CDB, you can't force Metrion to leave just because he prefers DBPro in front of FPSC. It's his opinion, respect it even though you might not agree with it.

As for your question, Hack. If you prefer to make only FPS's, you should get FPSC. Even though it might not be as powerful as DBpro, it's much easier to use and has some great features. I, personally, prefer FPSC due to it's simplicity and no need for coding to make a decent game.

One thing to look forward to:
The day FPSC v 1 is released

@Metrion:
There is a difference between bashing a product and posting a view... bashing generally means that you talk down about it, alot. But let's look a bit closer at your outburst...
For 1, there is V1, and it is comming...
For 2, in V1 all sound effects have been replaced...
For 3, I have seen a lot of the FPS games that have been outputed by the community, not all of them are great. Sure there is the FPS engine in build, but comparing the FPSC Engine to "shooter" just doesn't match up. (If all the hosted downloads on DBP are VERY old, then I haven't seen any of the new ones)

(P.S. I know of some better ones in progress, IE, Snow Island, but that was a multi year project...)

In the end run, FPSC is a weak engine, but it is simple, runs, and won't take a year to learn.

OHH... EDIT...
Duke, don't insult the DBP people, leave that to me... I like the heat...

I guess FPS Creator isn't all bad then... didn't mean to be rude or anything, but eheheh no hard feelings, guys. Really srry... didn't mean to insult anyone... It is quite true; FPS Creator is a great program for anyone who wishes to make games without learning programming. Again, I'm really sorry for my outburst

@CDBGames:

I'm really sorry CDBGames! I shouldn't have done that...

But i still believe DBPro and DBC are much better

Yeah, overall, DB and DBP are better 'cause you can do more.

I love FPSC a lot because you can whip up a fun game in just a few hours and show it to ya friends.

And multiplayer in V1 will be FANTASTIC!

I still love DarkBASIC though.

I love DarkBASIC Pro but FPSC V1 ROCKS A LOT!!! I not tested it, but with the video, the news and the features i know it's awsome! Programming a good and long FPS is difficult. It's easy to do a FPS for fun. Programming a FPS is really cool, but it needs experience. If you are as good as the FPSC devs in DBPro (i'm sure no, cause they made it...), you will can do awsome FPS's with DBPro, as good as FPSC V1.

Well, we cannot really compare them. DB is a programming tool, FPSC is a Drag N' Drop tool. A FPS made in DBPro with multiplayer, physics, interactions and effects good as FPSC V1 is not a cool game. It's an awsome accomplishment and a great game.

*holds up a bottle of beer*
"Drinks on Me"
*collapses*

We're all guilty of the crime of bashing, and DB is 100% better then FPSC, I just don't feel like spending all that time making the Engine, then finding things that don't work. Printing out my 30pg source. Yeah.

I suck at Debug, but I get it done...
