Uhhh, try making each part separate and get reference pics to base it off(its kinda wonky. I assume you are a beginner at modelling. I have modelled a perfect replica Angus young SG, and you should start with the body of the guitar. Make a spline outline and depending what bevel you want on the edges, either just extrude like you are doing, or create a spline cage and apply a surface modifier. A gitar is not too hard to model and there are several tutorials on the web. Good hunting.

if you're using 3ds max, then just use tutorials as a referance as well as a image, you look like a newbie modeller, and you're using the all expensive 3ds max 6, strange, also you should buy 3D world Magazine, they always have 3DS max tutorials in there, eg. This months was a cloud tutorial that makes realistic clouds, last month was perfect cloth

BenDstraw,

You should accept what these people are saying to you. Otherwise, your post to this forum was extremely pointless. Didn't you want to know what people thought about it? If so, take what they are saying and make use of it.

Nano is right. We are trying to help you develop your modelling skills to help you. The stuff I make at school I have my class, teacher and friends absolutely show me every single thing i could improve, and that way i get better with every model i complete.

Well, its a bit hard to tell from the slight angle the photo is take in. It doesn't look terrible though, it would depend on what the guitar is going to be used for also. If the guitar was going to be used for a rendered shot it wouldn't be very good for a couple of reasons. The reason i say this is
(these are just my opinions)

1) Below the headstock where the nut and the neck would start downwards seems a bit to large maybe scale it in a bit to give it more defintion.
2) The neck from the photo doesn't look strait although that might be the rotation on the model in the photo.
3) The top two curves in the body are pointy, add in some more edges along the side to give it a more curved body.

For a rendered shot the sharp pointed body, not perfectly strait neck, would look bad and rough, however if you are using it for a low poly game model and not a rendered shot it would not be bad at all with a decent texture and just add in some more curve to the body. As for strings if it was a rendered shot i would use thin cylinders, for a game i wouldn't even make strings i would have the strings in the texture.

Ah yes for strings in 3ds max, Create splines where you want each string. Go to the spline properties and click renderable. To get the correct thickness just change the render thickness

Alright thanks guys I like what Zone Chicken said he gave crits but he didnt basically say I didnt know how to model like the others(sorry if that wasnt your intention)I dont think I want it for a game or render I wanted practice. I was using image planes and wanted to get better at it.

Hey did you guys see my gun what guys think of that atleast.

BenDstraw, there isn't too much wrong with your model, I mean when I was a newbie you'd laugh at my models lol, I wish 3DS max was my learning software lol, but some of us can't afford it, considering you are still learning I got you a website with 3DS max tutorials you may find useful

[EDIT] the gun looks nice on the link

cool, I downloaded that Maya PLE, it made my PC run slow lol, so I haven't tried much with it, took 15secs to render a simple cube (just to test mental ray) I guess I should look at the system requirements lol
