Hey, I have just got into modeling and I love it

I am using Gmax. When I export I can only export in a .P3D format. Does any one know a way of converting , Or a plugin for export .x or even .3ds.

Many thanks - Eddie

Here is the screen shot I am trying to show you of my first model. I know it's a bit blocky and no detail but it's my first.

I put it in this post to save space

There is no easy way to do it. Gmax is more for game developers who want to include a way for users to make/modify game content but do not want to develop their own editor.

Read the stickies they have links to pretty much all the free alternatives that can write formats dbpro can use.

There have been plenty of useful discussions about all this in the past. For some reason they all appear to have been deleted. Very disappointing really, this forum is usually very transparent and mature in handling such matters.

Well I know one way to do it but Gmax wasn't really made to export to any other formats. Gmax is supposed to add on to games that have a license like Dungeon Siege. Before I got 3ds, I just used a plugin for Gmax that adds a .md3 export. If you use Deep Exploration trial you can export .md3 to .3ds or .x. Its kind of a pain but if thats what it takes then go for it. Just do a google search for a .md3 plugin for Gmax and go to right hemisphere's website to download the free trial.

Edit: By the way, the model is looking great keep it up

I am not modeling with gmax any more. I am using Truespace 3.2, I'll post some models when I make some.

Mode - Please lock this.
