I am not sure what sort of project I'd like to do, so right now I'm making a general FPS engine that i could use if i decide to make a first person 3d game, and i'm also going to learn to texture and model and animate better, and making sounds and possibly making midis (whichever ones i feel like working on). i've helped out a bit with goldeneye nemesis with his goldeneye revisted (with maps, models, textures), and plan to help some more

philips--amazing. i'd be glad to help out in some way if i could. chriscontreras1 at aol.com

lightning studios does your world evolve free of the player also? it sounds similar to what me and a friend were planning on making last year

Haven't built any fancy system yet, it's just DBP working on its own right now. I'd like to keep this small. Nice level design skills you have there. Pretty nice lightmapping. I also like the crate texture. The fans look nice; Are they animated (or going to be)? The gun needs some work still though

Edit: Oh yeah, current projects. I have a couple designs being, well erm, run through the design process. One of which is:

Name: None at the moment

Description: A survival horror game thats been in the design stages for quite a few months now. The catch is, this game is more on the atmosphere then killing things. The only permanant weapon in the game is the baseball bat (lil' Thunder). There will be other 1 or 2 time use weapons though. Think Fatal frame, without the hot asian twins and no camera.

Team: Me and a few others that have helped me with ideas and Uv mapping of a certain baseball bat(thanks bealzibob).

Time in Developement: My free time for the past few months.

Genre:Survival Horror

Release Date: Not anytime soon if ever.

One Last Game:

War Theory: Kamagata : Project Zero Degrees
Genre: FPS/RPG
Description: A unique idea has come about in the year 2011 on Earth. The country is Canada (weren't expectin that were you?) and a scientist has come up with a portal to travel to other "strings" based off of the string theory. 2 Years Ago this scientist was recruited by the U.S government to begin working on this in Canada were the Talaban wouldn't think to look since they began to bring the battle to the U.S. Now three soldiers have to report this scientist. Why? Because they have to use the device. They have to fight the war in another string. The government and philosphers have came up with ideas that if the war can be won in another string than the war shall end with the same result in the string we live in. Each string the soldiers shall discover has its own unique feature, the string we live has a great leap of technology over any other, however where the soldiers are going technology is equivanlent to that of Persia when it was in it's prime. However the string they must enter has something we don't.

Magic.

The Soldiers will have to learn to master magic and learn to fit in with a new alternate Earth.

All the while fighting an epic battle.

That's just a really incomplete bare bone description of the core of the game.

I wanted to do something simple, quick, and fun. My little brother thought up this hilarious guy named "The Dudeo". Imagine this middle-aged guy with a mullet and black hair that's going gray (think Dino Spumoni from Hey Arnold). He wears this orange shirt with some weird hippie swirly symbol on the front. He's got purple dockers-type pants and converse shoes. He walks around doing that thing where you snap both your fingers and point and he says, "Hey hey hey! It's groovy."
He has abilities like the Sucker Punch, Groove Vibes, and the Hip Thrust, all of which you can upgrade. One day The Dudeo is abducted by Aliens, and after going around the universe with them showing them how to party he gets back to Earth to find that everybody's turned into a square (the slang term of course). The only place that still has a little bit of swing left is a small Jazz club on the edge of the Capitol City. This is where you do tutorials and go to replenish health or upgrade abilities. As The Dudeo you make your way to the center of the city battling punkers, robots, and eventually finding the source of all the uncoolness--The One Chet. You defeat The One Chet and restore coolness to the world.

wow! i go to the beach for 4 days and come back to find this post filled with new posts . I looked through all of them, looking good . I especially like megaton cat's game, looks really good.

@MikeS: 4 hours??!! In four hours i would have the guy in the game and moving around lol (ok, maybe a little more than that, but not much . What you did in 4 hours wouldve taken me more like 4 days (Not 24 hours a day though ). Good luck with it.

Hehe, thanks for the comments Gil. The whole level is randomly generated, and most of the textures are fairly simple, so it's all not to bad. I'm happy to annouce that I'm planning on sticking with this project for awhile.

Heres just a little side project i just started today:

Title: Lifelight
Description: Too long to explain, but its a perfect alternate reality and your a programmer. (Confused? ). Based on an idea from the awesome book "Pendragon: The Reality Bug" from the awesome "Pendragon" series (buy them!!! youll like them ). A no graphics, text game.
Time in Developement: About 2 hours working time, 4 hours since i started.

Okay, after a full 12 hour day(all coding+media making), the editor for my game is finished. The editor is quite buggy though, but it can load and save, so it's not a problem if I save quick enough(kidding of course, it's on my to-do list of bugs).



The game will have an option to disable shaders, though I need to cleanup the low-res media for that. Here's a screenie.

Needed a way to generate normal maps on the fly for my latest game, so I started to make a function, similar to the nVidia normal map filter. Unfortuantly there are some problems, but it's almost there. I might have to limit it to simply objects, for complex objects seem to cause problems.

go on the codebase and you'll find Black Hole (my little shooter)! It looks crap at first which is why it is v0.1 but I'm gonna add multiple terrains and enemies and I've just thought of a storyline!

In fact, the only reason I put it in codebase in such early stages is because the source is so simple that I wanted other newbies to have a go at continuing it and making their own shooter!

Mike, when your on MSN later I think I have some info that might help. Found some good resources on face projection, from 3D -> 2D -> UV

mainly for stuff like Radiosity but I think it would help towards your quest too.

Thanks, its only text based right now though, and ur a phader/vedder/programmer for it. I actually started designing how you could set up a "jump" in an RPG. I think itd make and awesome story-driven free RPG. I would make one if it werent for copyright laws, hehe (although im already breaking them by making the lifelight simulation, or is it if u distribute it? ). I wish theyd make a "Pendragon" movie, if they did itd right, theyd be awesome. Im guessing uve read Pendragon, lol, whats ur fav book? Mine's "The Reality Bug", but that new one, "Rivers of Zadda" is coming out, itll probably be good too .

the one on "first earth" is called "the never war" but "Black Water" is the one on "Eelong" where the cat species evolved into the dominant race. Yeah at the end they get stuck cause the "flume" is destroyed. "Never War" is my second favorite, and "Black Water" is my 3rd. .

cool! my dads old boss now works for the company that makes that, and he just dropped by yesterday and gave us "Paint Shop Pro 9" and "Photo Album 5: Deluxe Edition"! . Lucky me . I started playing around with "Paint Shop Pro 9" today, its awesome! I havent quite figured out how to do stuff with text yet, i had just started when i decided to check my threads again, hehe. But i think i found a new hobby...painting over pictures using the paint tool to transform real pictures into paintings, lol, its fun . Well, im gonna try out some more stuff with the text, look for some tutorials, hehe.
