Is there anyway to make an MP3 recording from a Concert on DVD. I don't want to distribute it, I just want to listen to it on my MP3 player. Any way of doing this?

on the mac vob files are handled by quicktime, if you have qt pro you can save the audio data as an aif or wav etc and then onto a mp3.

with the pc there are many programs that will convert mpeg2 data to say avi and then you would require a video editing program to select the audio tracks and export to wav and then onto mp3.

type wav to mp3 into google, theres a free one around but do a spyware check straight after installation as it also adds a few unwanted goodies.
http://www.mthreedev.com/ is what i use on the pc to convert wav to mp3

do a google search for mpeg2 to avi or dvd to avi

virtualdub should allow for the audio extraction once its an avi etc..

you will need a lot of hard drive space for this type of conversion (hence the avi size and then the wav size )unless you find a all in one ripper/converter etc..

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

kk, Thanks, I'll have a little look on google. Its not much that I want to rip, just a few songs from the DVD so I think I'll be ok for hard drive space.

If you find an all in one convertor could you give a link to it? I have a DVD of about 10 songs I want on my PC, but I can't be bothered to go through the process

Search Google for Plato DVD to MP3 converter. I found this and downloaded it but when I start the wizard and configure it and click Next nothing happens... does this happen on your PC?

Also, it won't allow me to rip individual chapters, just the WHOLE sound track. This is annoying because a 2 hour MP3 file in 192k quality will be rather laaarge.
