If you have noticed, this forum would be rated with a 1/10 for interactivity. I think that there should be more features for users to put into the forum such as polls, game archives, a PM/instant messaging system, and just extras for users to get excited about. This is just a thought, but what do you think?

Rich (the Admin) has plans for a new forum, and as far as I know (not very) is already implementing them. Just have to wait and see, I know he won't be changing this one soon

He should add a feature where users can ban other users. Now that would be a funny forum.

Can we also have a feature where the amount of pixels in a user's sig is multiplyed by the amount of letters in the thread?

Thanks

I think that there is not a single drop of forum interactivity. When is the new forum expected and who designed this one?

I think you need to be working on your DBPro projects instead of worrying about all the useless features this forum doesn't have

Quote: "who designed this one?"

That would be Rich. Don't say anything bad about his forum because it's the best and easiest to use.

I think a private messaging system is about all that needs to be added to the forum. I totally agree with Mouse. A bunch of useless features isn't going to help us solve our coding problems. You see, some of actually do other things than live on this forum. We have projects we're trying to complete, and we only visit here when we need help or feel like helping someone else.

Well then I'd be very interested to know how posted that message (or how I posted this one, for that matter)!

Gamedev, how interactive are your forums? Or do you have any? Ya if you code a forum then maybee someone might listen to you (unlikely) and phpbb doesnt count.

He has a Forum, not really coded himself, no real purpose, ...

I think a forum should be adjusted to the main theme. Here we are (should be) bedroom programmers, so the Forum has almost everything that we need for that task. (maybe we just notice the lack of PM, but it's still possible to work without)

I like the forum the way it is

But I think a few "little" things could be added just to make it a little more easyer to use.

Like:

- The top banner turned into a link.
- PM system ( Witch I suggested ages ago http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=44988&b=2)

Well, that is what I basicly mean. It is nice to have extra features just to add on to make it much more a comfortable experience. I am not trying to insult Rich or anyone for that matter, I just think that there should be some new features such as polls to make it easier to view results for something, a PM system would be nice. Maybe even some other smaller things too. I think that it is nice to have interactivity. Maybe even a chat room would be nice. A lot of other forums have it. User rankings are easy to do too.

Just a thought.

Its a forum, not an entertainment complex.

Rich wrote this forum himself because all the ones out there are badly written and full of dodginess.

Apollo is lean mean, pretty fast and no frills. And it works fine here

There's an irc room, if it's still here that is.

Quote: "User rankings are easy to do too."

But then new users would feel pushed away. They would instantly feel inferior to every other user and that ain't how it's meant to be. This forum isn't like tohers out there.

While most forums are for discussing something, whether it be a game, band or film etc etc this one is for helping people learn and for them to show others what they have learnt. The current format is simple but that's what you want, to be able to ask a question and get an answer.

The forum itself needs optimisation before anything else, have a look at the html it produces, and how much of it could be taken away with a bit of good css. Have mercy on us poor 56kers

The forums are getting a little long in the tooth now, and some attachment problems are annoying.

That is what I am saying. Just the little things to make it nicer. I just like some better features to enhance your stay at the forum. Forum User Rankings also help people to see how many posts they have and how often they post. That is all.

Why does this forum realy need private messaging? There are already many IM clients available. Just post your IM info in your profile and talk on one of them.

Not everyone has an IM account and may not want one. And if they have one they may not use it that often.

padlock, this is pointless. the requester hasnt even looked around properly to even know about the chat room etc..

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 
