I finally installed a spell checker extension and dictionary to my browser.

It was pretty painless. I don't know why I procrastinated doing it for so long.

Here's a link for anyone else who may be as lazy as I am.

http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/

No more (spelling???)

@Osiris,

If you have Firefox version 1.0.4 download the 1.0.x version.
This happened to me at first as well. (It states up to version 1.0.3, but it's the one 1.0.4 as well.)

or

Quote: " If you are still having trouble installing SpellBound from the Installation page you should be able save the files locally by right clicking on the link and selecting "Save Link As" in Firefox or "Save Link Target As" in the Mozilla Suite. Then you should be able to drag and drop the files onto the browser window or the Extension Manager window to install them."

**BUMP**

This post has drifted to the second page. I will only bump it once and then let it die.

I know that the forums are not grammar school, but it helps all of us when at least some simple spell checking is applied to posts. If you are not a great speller (like me), or if your typing isn't always up to snuff (again like me), adding a spell checker to you web browser can really help you and other forum members.

It's the last I will say on this topic.

What version do you get for FF1.0.4 ? They only seem to be for 1.0.2, which the extension system ignores.

Note: If you have Service Pack 2 You will have to click the warning bar at the top of the browser, and allow the site to download the file. Once added you have to click the download link again.

I'll try to cut down the overly verbose installation procedure.

Step 1. Go here: http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/install

If you have Firefox 1.0.0-1.0.4 use the top radio button.

-The install SpellBound for Firefox 1.0.x

-Select Windows OS in the drop-down box and click install.

Step 2. Go here: http://dictionaries.mozdev.org/installation.html

-choose your dictionary language ie. English(US)
-Install

Step 3. Restart your browser

If everything went well you will see a check spelling option when you right-click in a text window. ie. (like the one I am typing in now)

Step 4. To add The Spell check to your toolbar. (Mine is to the left of the address bar)
-Open Firefox
-Click view->Toolbars->Customize
-Scroll down and locate the abc Spell check Icon.
-Click the icon and drag it to the toolbar and drop

TO Use: Type your responses in the forum message box. When Complete just click your shortcut toolbar or right-click Choose Check Spelling.
Or use the shortcut key sequence ctrl+shift+F7

To all TGC Forum Users,

I tried to make the instructions simpler. If anyone is still having problems I will try to help you install this to the best of my ability.
Please don't be afraid to ask. I had a couple of problems on my first attempt as well.

Sincerely
~zen
