I know the basic thing to do when using billboard graphics. Make the trunk and branches 3d, then use a plain and put them around where you want the the leaves, and with grass just a plain.
thats all i know, now that i want to the leaves texture how do i do that in 3dsmax 6? I know how to texture but i want it the edges of the texture so its realistic, any game maker should know, instead of using tons of polygons.

i have seen things about lightmaps or something like that, but i dont know how to use them. I cant find any tutorials which i thought would be possible as its the most used ways of making a tree.
Its all for an online game im making, the less polygons the better, less lag.

Black in DB is transparent, or you could change it using SET IMAGE COLORKEY. Texture anywhere you dont want to be seen as Pure Black (0,0,0) and it should not be rendered. If not, use SET OBJECT and make sure the transparency flag is set correctly.
