damn, man!

At least you had a backup and don't have to start from scratch like I've seen a few people here have too!

Good luck!

Jess.

Look on the bright side Indi - when you re-code, you make it better than it ever was, so you always end up with better code than if you had no crashes .

That's what I tell myself anyway, I'm notoriously sloppy when it comes to taking backups.

Funny coincidence. I just lost my main hard drive due to a head sector crash yesterday.

thank god, I copied a lot of data to the 120 gig hard drive, Ive recovered the other drive to a point where i can copy it all to dvds, fun fun fun NOT. this means all the work ive created and the new build of the game is still safe.

still however i have lost a lot of data

Well I feel awkward being the only non-mod here, but what is DT2?

Wow, thats the best attempt I've seen on an rpg in Dark Basic. As far as I know, rpg's and rts' seem to be the hardest to make. Looks good, sucks that you lost some data though. Is this an older version, or did you save it using the Dvd's? Btw, never played an rpg that has right click for a walk backwards, It makes things easier.

I've just lost my HDD to the hard disk crashing fairy too. Oddly enough, when I phoned up a local store to find out some prices he said he'd heard of a lot of FAT table corruptions lately. Could be a virus of some kind ...

Why does no-one ever backup more regularly than once month ??
It should be at least once a week, preferably at least once a day.

I have too many computers, too little time, and had bad backing up practises.
Ive moved my backing up to sundays but when you have a lot of computers to back up each week it can take the latter half of a full day.

I bought a DVD Writer recently to use for backing up, and was midway through finding a half decent brand/dye of DVDR. Up until the crash, I was only getting about 1/5 good burns....

i swear by the pioneer series of burners
I have an A05 in my g4
an OEM107(just means it came with software but its a A07 model)
and im about to buy a A09 for dual layer madness

I prefer the TDK brand as i find them the most reliable for the actual discs
