Hello all,

I use anim8or to create my 3d object, i am wondering as how to texture my object either in game, or preloaded. Is there a free program i can use or is there a special method to creating a bitmap then while in db use the texture object command? I am absolutley clueless when it comes to texures, i really need to know how.

Google LithUnWrap. You have to assign UV Coordinates to the vertices of the mesh. When your done this, export the UV map as an image, which is basically colored in silhouettes of the groups of your model, which you then litterally paint the texture on.

Thank You,

I have a basic idea of it now......
I looked up lithunwrap and it has been replaced by another software peice, downloading the demo now.

@rpggamer. I see that u are a moderator. Does the darkbasic website sell games that people program? For instance, if i make a game, could i post it on the website to e sold as like a download or something?

Sage Tech:

The mods are not "part" of the DarkBasic (The Game Creators) company. They just help out to keep the forums nice and clean.

If your game is worth wild, I would suggest AFTER you finish it, to sent it to either Rick or Lee and they will let you know. There have been a few games they "Sell" such as "Firewall" and some others.

I also know quite a few publishers that if needed I could show your FINSHED work to if need be.

That would be awesome. I have programed a game engine, and will begin production of a game very shortly. My engine, handles collision, a.i., shooting, camera(is in first-person, but can be modifed easily for other views),etc). Because of how i have programmed the game engine, each level should only take a couple of hours to create (including modeling, designing, and the actual coding). I am just stuck on a very few things:
Texturing and, for whatever reason, getting the gun to stay in place on screen(it just erks me, i have this super-complex engine, and the stupid gun won't stay in place on the screen!)

Yeah, that "Lock Object" command can really fool someone pretty bad.

An engine is something that handles whatever you put into it, generally consisting of a lot of variables. Rather then saying....

MonsterDmg = Monster(1).Dmg * Monster(1).Level

You would have the engine find which monster in the array is doing the dmg, so none of its hardcoded, rather it would be like

MonsterDMg = Monster(readyMon).Dmg * Monster(readyMon).Level
