Does anybody know of a decent alternative to animating in milkshape, which has been tried and tested in dbpro and works (even when animations are appended together). The method of assigning vertices to joints in milkshape isn't working for me. I'm aiming for the effect of higher end modelling tools where vertices move proportionally to their "area of effect" so you get smooth mesh deformation. I don't know what the technical term is!

Basically the animations in milkshape are just too ropey when you start making models you want to view close up. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be free software, but I at least need a demo to try it out, and something without a super steap price tag. Cheers.
