Hi, I'm in a real hurry and the order enquiries take ages to come back, sorry.

THE PROBLEM

I've installed my newly bought Cloth and Particles Pack but none of the help tutorials run - they all stop on any of the pack specific commands such as Make Object Cloth and say it doesn't recognise them.

I recievied an order key, but I haven't found anywhere to put it in. Could this be the cause? That I haven't unlocked the product with the order key? If so; where am I meant to enter this key to unlock it?

Thanks in advance,
Drew

Yes it needs activating before use. Run the TGCVerifier.exe program and see what happens when you enter it there (you should see the result of it appear in your certificates folder)

A great many people think they are thinking when they are really rearranging their prejudices.

Ah Ah AH AH.... so i see i'm not the only one who have to fight with those odd activation systems...

by the way... you have to learn cloth&particle mostly by yourself!!!!
Yes, there is a tutorial, but it nearby useless.

i think 3d cloth and particles are good only for some little demo.

That surprises me.. I wouldn't have thought someone like you would need a noob tutorial to figure it out, just sample code (of which there is a good amount).

oh i didn't talk for me Rich.
There's a lot of sample code, and it's easy to figure out how cloth and particles works.
But i think it's right to say you have to try by yourself to see how the engine works. it isn't true?

The second point, "good only for little demo", it's because i found the object too small in size.

After that, i must say the engine is really powerfull.

and don't joke me with words like

Okay, sorted

but

I keep getting "physics errors" and none of the cloth ones work well or properly - I am running 5.8 but I think I downloaded the regular Cloth and Physics pack? If this is the cause of the problems, where can I get the newer version?

Look in your order history - you will find the new version for upgrade 5.8 listed in there.

Alright, I tried that to no avail.

This is what I'm experiencing:

The flag just moves around on the floor, it's not even doing anything flag like. The rest of the cloth demos do not show anything.

Help?

Drew - I have just tested this demo along with the latest version of the 3D Cloth & Particles DLL and that is working correctly. I'm wondering if the new installer hasn't recognised your DB Pro installation and not updated correctly.

Please contact me directly at mike@thegamecreators.com providing your order information as well and I will send you a DLL that you can copy directly into your plugins-licensed folder that should resolve the problems.

ALL SORTED! - Give it a lock if you'd like.

And might I add, it's going to go to very good use in Dumbo and Cool. Worth buying, everyone.

I disagree. I have full-blown explosions, fireworks, Title-Screen effects, rain, and much more.

I agree that it is difficult to finetune your effects. But I have the answer to that...soon!

I'm trying really hard to put a particles showcase together. Unfortunately work and life gets in the way! I impressed myself last night with a nice exploding spaceship, followed by the camera flying through the explosion. It was like a low-budget Star Wars effect

The good thing about this example is that it shows that particles are generated in 3D space, and aren't just a 2D plain. You can travel through the effect, which is fantastic for fast-moving games. I don't know if you've every played WipeOut, but one of the challenges is following racers through dust and debris.

It's looking very intresting, are you making something like a game with those effects?
