ok, i need help with something.

i use the "play animation" command to play my cutscenes in my game, but they show up in this little window...is there a way to make them fullscreen like real game cutscenes no matter the resolution?

if there is, please help me, if there isnt, is there a way to fake it?

thanks in advance,

-BULLSHOCK

i know...it is weird...
and you know what i found out? if you lower the resolution, than the video is WAY to big and you can only see half of it.

see, here is the problem in more detail:

i have a video rendered at 1024x768...if that is your current relolution, the video is fine, you can see the whole thing...but if you put it lower than that, the video is bigger...so is there a way to resize it in the code?

Now I haven't done it myself but according to the Darkbasic Pro help files (which you should of looked at first) if you use:

PLAY ANIMATION whatever,0,0,1024,768

Here is the entire help text:

PLAY ANIMATION
This command will play an animation on the screen or to the current Bitmap. By default, animations are played to the screen. You must provide an Animation Number of a previously loaded animation file. You can optionally provide either one or two sets of X and Y Coordinates to place and resize the animation anywhere on the screen.

SYNTAX
PLAY ANIMATION Animation Number
PLAY ANIMATION Animation Number,X,Y
PLAY ANIMATION Animation Number,X,Y,X,Y
PLAY ANIMATION Animation Number,Bitmap Number,X,Y,X,Y

Please try to find the answers to your questions in the help files first.

thanks for trying to help Grog Grueslayer, but thats not what i was asking.

i have looked at the help file numerous times on this...and its not there...

see, the problem with using that method, is that if someone has there resolution lower than 1024x768, then the video would be huge, and only a portion would be displayed on screen...i need a way to keep it full screen, no matter the resolution of the player...

Ok I got it. It took me a while because I had to render an avi at 1024x768 (about 13mins). To get it to play at the current resolution of the computer use:

play animation 1,0,0,screen width(),screen height()

Of course you can always force the resolution using:

set display mode 1024,768,32

What video card do you have BULLSHOCK 2?

Have you tried it out on different computers? It may be just your computer that has the lag. Can you upload the avi to here or somewhere on the internet and post a link to it so we can try it on our computers?

ok...first off...i tried it in 640x480...and itt creates a little square in the middle of my screen...then plays the videos and they still lagg.

-i have a geforce fx4400

-i tried the the exe on 3 computers...

1)1024 ram. geforce fx 4400. 3.0 ghz processor
- major video lagg...sound plays fine

2)128 ram. no video card. 2.6 ghz processor
- a lot of lagg...but less then computer # 1

3)512 ram. geforce fx 4400. 2.6 ghz processor
- basically the same as computer # 2

videos are uncompressed and huge...they would take forever to upload (im on vacation on dial-up with my laptop)
could that actually be the problem? that the videos are like 200 megs?

ps...code wouldent help...im using basic play animation and play animation to image commands

thanks all you guys for trying to help!

Woah... 200 megs! I can't wait to see it.

It could be. Maybe you could try to separate it into small parts and play the parts one at a time.
