Finished off my world editor finally!

Included are around 300 objects to show it off. I worked hard on the objects, so please don't sell them in a bundle.

I'm working on enhancing zone/world creation and new updates should be available.

It's a universal world editor because it creates ascii scene outputs of object placement and such, and should be importable into your game.

Thanks for reading and/or trying it out. Download takes ~10min (I'm hosting the ~32mb file)

It's not compiled with DBPro, but a utility for DBPro users - or any user.

Hope you like the program. Remember to read the help.pdf for commands. You cannot get full use of it otherwise.

I'm in the process of adding 'modules' as additions - like desert plants, trees, cemetary objects etc..

Teffo

btw - I'm not sure this program can go in the program announcements because that's only for dbpro projects - at least that's what I understand. This program was not written in dbpro

If its as good as it looks, i don't think the mods would mind if it was in program announcements.

hmm, this is to do with the graphics mode.
It requires 1024x768 ,32 bits. Perhaps I should have it user selectable then,

This is a brilliant app, but I've had one minor problem with it;

When trying to load the objects into my game, they are textured incorrectly. I have copied all the required media, and even converted them to .X files (DBP has a grudge against 3ds files).

For instance, the palm tree models load, and their bark texture appears; but the bark covers the entire object (and the leaves look like bark).

Any idea why this may be happening?

Looks like I may need to stick to .X format. Not sure if 3DS has issues with your app.

DBPro should work well with .X , and perhaps that's a better choice.

One thing to try is to convert these objects via a converter and make sure they are triangulated.

Teffo

re- Memory Access Violation! - that's because objects or thumbnails are not in correct folders. There was a problem with the unzip.

Make sure if you're using XP to open the zip and drag contents to destination folder. The folder structure is like the following-
http://www.wizardportal.com/optimaiv/install_temp.jpg

Inside the objects folder should be a thumbnails folder with appropriate contents

It's likely the folder structure was not created properly

I'll look into an installer next week
