Significantly should mean just that.
Whatever the actual case for you to gain any benefit from the addition of Physics or MP in particular being added to your game levels FPSC V1 would indeed have to be significantly faster in the accepted meaning of the word than FPSC EA. I presume 1fps or anything like that is not considered as being Significant by anyone.
Otherwise for those users who already struggle with the various problems of speed or memory issues, then the addition of the Physics alone will be of no use whatsoever - indeed it would be a hinderance adding to the loss of FPS - you would have to switch it off altogether cancelling out any benefit. As for MP well the Physics alone would give you more than enough problems without considering that.
The EA version itself cannot accommodate the inclusion of Physics and the additional burden on the math/thinking which result in a further loss of FPS - TGC know that and will be well aware of improvements that will need to be made.
We should accept any statement from TGC and await the release of V1 as we really do not know any different.
Truth be that when V1 is released the users will actually discover in practical use across a wide range of circumstances what improvements or failures there are as was the case with FPSC EA. Not long after the V1 releaase there will be enough users testing under varying conditions to come to a realistic conclusion on the status of V1.
Until then its just guesswork for us all.
Perhaps if you are lucky TGC will give you a peak at whats going on, but they are probably too busy for that and it takes time away from meeting any V1 realease date.
Patience is needed - not got a lot of that myself though I must admit.
