Hey Guys ,

Im planning for an online game called DarkLight , and I thought I could model everything for it , while learning the basics of coding in dbp ,cause im still a noob , so i drew my first character (Knight) , and im wondering which modelling prog to use which can also animate and has really easy and friendly interface , I tried milkshape 3d , but its a bit compilicated , all the tutorials are not too detailed , and i found out the free version of milkshape 3d cannot send models into dbp unless i buy the full version , is it true ?? Please answer my other question (above) pls

pls reply---

First of all, try reading the stickies on the top.. they provide a lot of usefull information. As for which to use, if you're not planing on using any money on them I'm afraid the options are few.
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=30080&b=10 <-- try looking there.. quite a nice list of modlers.

Anyway, I cant help you much at this really.. but just thought I'd tell you where to find this stuff.. also I would like to point out.. that pong is a good place to start, as a online game is quite a task to undertake..

good luck with it all.

Well the best program I've find with the best tutorials included with it allow you to become beginner to expert, its called houdini.....

One Cache

its price is £8000 ($17000)
may as well buy a nice car

Seriously now, what kind or price are you looking at?

For planely modelling you can get what most people use as a side app and just get an animation program too.

If you want ease, follow my recommendations.

Here is a nice bundle of cheapishness (To me its cheap, I'm saving up for an apple Mac and Cinema 4D XL, so to me they're cheap, dunno about you)

Silo-
This is an easy to use and has useful tutorials on its website, profesionall modelling power, cheap. Doesn't render or animate, so I'd recommend another package of CharacterFX, Silo is a nice tool, haven't really played with it much.
Price (Silo)- $109 (£60)
Price CharacterFX - %15 (uuh £7?)
Webaite (Silo) - http://www.nevercenter.com/purchase/
Website (CFX) - http://www.insanesoftware.de/index.php?page=home.php

Another tool that is like Silo as in its easy to use and only does modelling (as far as I know) Is

If you're into full package 3D apps, the easiest I would say (other than houdini) is Cinema 4D, however, older and cheap version are rare, I was very lucky to get my Version 6 for £10. The lastest is 9,
This is a really power app not as powerful as the 4 most expensive lot (Softimage:XSI, 3DSMax, Maya and Houdini) prices ranges for this
(£500, £1350,£2300)

If you are going for something cheap, really cheap, the program I'd recommend is the best cheap program out there, it's blender, and its free, google it. Its really powerful, has a nice renderer and is suitable for darkbasic, although it is awkward to learn being the cache, but the website is full of tutorials which are useful. So if you haven't got the wallet for the above get Blender

I'd suggest a copy of Silo to model in ($109), Lithunwrap to texture in (free) and FragMotion to animate in ($35) and you're all set up with everything you'll need to make game models.

Intel Pentium 4, 3.4GHz, 1280MB RAM, NVidia Quadro FX3000/256MB, 240GB HD, XP Pro

i say it to everyone.. but it is the best to start with for the lowest price possible.

Wings 3D - http://www.wings3d.com
Price - Free 0$

Very easy to use although it is limited in what it can do..
Great for beginners and very powerful when you get really good. Its a nice program if you want low poly models and quite a few supported exports. most common .3ds

As for animation.. im not to sure.
