Well I can't really comment on 3 spheres, I'd say showcase your work when you've got the hang of tools, I never posted my first 3D models, like Link from zelda made with cubes and spheres, man that looked funny, too bad I lost it, not mention knuckles and a few trees.

I'd teach yourself the tools, a good way for a dog head is to use metaballs, or doesn't milkshape have that?

your bmps are 350kb. all you have to do to get them to be a jpg is open them in paint, save as, select jpg. theyll be 7kb then, instant download, and i think it automatically shows it on your post too, so everyone can see it. its so weird how someone can make a 3d model and not know how to get a jpg lol

sorry to put down your project but this is like someone saying "look at my first program":

otherwise though good start

actually not all head start off with spheres, some humans head come from boxes, or use my technique or poly modelling.

I can at least say its looks nicer than my first model made of primitives.....mine was a laugh to look at.

I might recreate actually, and compare to yours, I'm sure people will like urs better anyway

I dnt really see why u guys are being so harsh. Ok, maybe the model doesnt constitute as being "textured" because the texture is rather simple. But the model itself looks pretty cool...

ook . In my free time , i model cars , with no textures , im getting sick of it , i want to learn how to make a face texture for my knight .

And i bought milkshape , and i cant get it registered , i type my registeraton code and name , and then it says (thanks for registering) then (restart ms to finish registeration) once i press ok , everything closes , and when i open it again , its still an expired trial version .
How can i download a brand new trial version ?

pls reply---

@ keemo, for the knight texture.

On the same disk I'm using to help make the tutorial for BenDstraw, has a face texturing tutorial, well the magazine has the tut, the disk has the images for referance, as I am doing for BenD, I'll make you the tut on my forum...

you will need photoshop (if you don't you'll have to work out the bits related to photoshop in you program)
its says you need lightwave, but thats for the face rendering and UV exports, you can use UVMapper for the UV exports(if milkshape doesn't have a built in one)

http://www.uvmapper.com
for a face, I'd use the planar map, I will explain in all though in the tut when I get around to it

the most common way many pros do it when starting with a primitive is to use a cube. the sides are fromed to make a base and they add detail. Surface tools seem to be becoming more and more obsolete (at least the use of spline and patch moddeling) My parents are divorcwed but when i go to my dad's house i can post my awesome head made with box moddeling. as far as i know there is no real highly used method when starting with a sphere.

Dark Serpants box modelling technique is a good way of modelling heads, I find when I try to box model a head it looks cluttered, I got a pdf for box modelling humans in Cinema 4D 6 and above, I should check it out.....

As for poly modelling, do you know how to make a square polygon in Milkshape, you need to learn the basics before I can help you, I've never used Milkshape, but if you look at the link on the high poly modelling tutorial thread, recently put into the Newsletter, it will link you to some really good tutorial, it use box modelling and edge extrusion, but, you can treat the edge extrusion part like poly modelling.

But I'd say box modelling is so much faster than poly modelling

you cant make a plain using any of the preset objects but you can just make a box then select 5 of the sides and hit delete.

and for head modelling i think that edge edtrusion is the best method, the reason i wouldent use the box method is because the back of the head would end up having los of faces and takes excess time cleaning it up, but if you used edge extrution you wouldent have this problem, well its only a minior problem but chichever method suits you :p

well thats a good idea, I would use whatever suits the user, but I don't think MS3D has edge extrusion, just like my version of C4D (I think edge came in C4D 7 maybe?)

Ok,I couldnt understand Psionic's zombie modelling tut , so i skipped to his house modelling tutorial , which was pretty straight forward (now that was a detailed tutorial) and I tried to use the same method to make a sword , and it worked ! It looked pretty good , since my version was expired , i couldnt save , so i asked all my family members not to touch the pc , i went out , then came back , and found my grand mother switch off the pc to watch tv .. But luckily ive taken 2 screenshots before it was deleted , sorry you gotta download it again

This is the picture i used as a guide ...

look for my high poly modelling thread, if you can't find it, depending on how many threads have had replies since its last, theres this month's newletter, the tutorial I found is directed at 3DS max, but doesn't use max biased tools, so should be easy to follow.

Oh and I'm working on a few tutorials for Cinema 4D, and the 3DS Max tutorial for BenDstraw, once I've got them done, you might be able to learn a few things from them, I'll try not to bias towards Cinema 4D, but some of the tutorials I'm doing use specific C4D tools
