I posted this in the code base, but I don't see you all could leave feedback (which I would appreciate), so I am posting it here, too. It's my first posting.

Basically, this is an engine that provides an overhead 3d view upon which you can run around, jump, swing your sword, fire arrows, look at limbs, and see where the player and cameras are at all times. I plan on continuing to develop this program/game. All media was created by me, and you can use as you see fit. If you fiddle with the camera height and distance, you can get into a FP view

Have fun and feel free to ask questions and give any feedback you can think of.

Download the .zip to get the necessary media files. Put them all in the same folder and it sould work great.

it seems there is a problem with the forum DL, but you can remedy this. When you get the pop-up screen asking to save as, type in forumpost.zip as the name of the DL file and it sould DL fine. Then unzip and you're good to go!!

Hmm... I know other people that it works fine for. Maybe your download is bad? Also, be sure all of the files are in the same folder that you run the code from. If you still have trouble, just make your own models and it should run okay.

Or send me your email addr and I'll send you a zip, with the updates I've made too

I've updated it quite a bit, althought I haven't added the duck animation sequence or changed the jump. When I get back from vacation, I'll post some new screen shots. I think my biggest challenge is going to be coming up with professional looking models with skinning... My learning curve there has been slow. I also want to try and use memblocks for creating the matrix.

I wish there was a comprehensive textbook with detailed code examples for DBP... Can the DBP creators publish one? I'm surprised they haven't.

Cyril

well, here's some screenshots from a week or so ago, until I can get back to my home computer...
