I have had an idea, your welcome to tell me that it is completely rubbish.

I was planning on forming some kind of independant game developers board. On the board would be people who were experts at doing different things in the aspects of game development i.e. modellers, level designers, programmers, networking programmers etc. etc. etc. You get the picture.

The service offered by the board would be assisstance for people as well as tutorials.

Another service which I would like to render is a quality assurance scale for independant games which are submitted to us, and we give them a score out of ten and a review or something like that.

This wouldnt involve a forum however, it would involve a seperate IRC channel and probably a monthly newsletter for the subscribers.

Do you guys think this could be a good idea, and furthermore do you think you would be able to contribute to it if it was formed?

I think the whole board thing is a bad idea, because this forum would simply dwarf any new effort, *but* I have always missed some kind of place for reviews and info on DB games.

Something like Gametunnel.com but DB orientated? I'd visit that, I've even thought of starting something like that myself...

Good luck!

I didnt mean "board" as in forum

I meant board as in a board of professionals. The idea does not involve a new website, just a newsletter and a new IRC channel.

We have formed now and have 5 members. We will work on our first publication.

The board for independant game developers(not the real name)

If you need help with a particular subject, drop by the IRC.
If you want us to review and rate your game then drop by the IRC.
If you want us to check out your indie game tool or accessory then drop by the IRC.

If you have an idea for a tutorial which we may publish then drop by the IRC.

At the moment everything will be done by the IRC. I will setup a new email address soon enough though for submissions.

the IRC details are

server: irc.devhat.net
channel: #indy

I hear you ask! How do I subscribe to the newsletter? Well, this is the only thing you need to do to get our regular publications and our system for this will be up soon. We only require your email address and we will tell you how to subscribe later .

Thanks.

Sounds cool Mnem, I definitly like the idea. When I finish my puzzle compo entry(which I've yet to start ), I'll be sure to submit it. I'm sure there's many others around here that would like to have their games reviewed.

I doubt they'd care, and if they do - I'll get rid of it.
But until then..

Look at my sig. Just take a look.

What would they do? Take me to court over using a couple of pictures of a celebrity in my signature?
