I've been working on a game for about a year now, me and a few friends. We're about 50% done with the game, and all of the sudden we're encountering massive problems. In the General forums I addressed some of these before, but this problem seemed more specific to this forum. Anyway, before we put everything together in DBP, how big is a "unit?" Like, what's its compromable (sp?) size in inches, feet, meters, whatever? In Cartography shop I've scaled everything to about what it should be based on the prefab couch. The distance from the floor to the ceiling in most structures is 8 squares, and doors are 7 squares tall. Is each square a unit? Or is each square comprised of multiple units? We need to know this so we can make our characters in Anim8or the proper height.

its all relative. different programs export to different scales so they are different sizes in db. just export a cube one anim8or unit sized and use object width x() in dbp to find the ratio of dbp to anim8or. then do the same for cshop

The square size in Anim8or is configurable. It either picks a size for the squares that seems to best match the zoom level or you can set it to a predefined scale. These settings are accessible through the "Options/Grid" menu. The default is for the grid to auto-size which may make matching the scales of your objects rather difficult.

corect about the grid. most that does not affect the unit size. it tells you the size still

a unit is exactly this big *makes gesture with hands* the best way to fin out how big something is is to export a model of a cube from your modelling app and then create a cube in dbpro and compare

As long as you don't use Milkshape of course.....
....which confuses me greatly when it comes to importing and exporting directx files.

Just experiment, and then scale it afterwards...and remember how you did it!
