I am curious how people plan to use FPSC. This might also help TGC team decide what features would be most beneficial in future releases and create some 3rd party resources too. As an example if a lot of people say (2) it might be worth while for some modelers to release model packs for a fee. If a lot of people say (4) then maybe TGC would add more bells and whistles such as cut screens and expand the 40 x 40 limit.

Part One:

1. I like to just make games to play with my friends or give away as freeware and I'm not interested in a career in game programming.

2. I want to create games to sell as shareware using pre-made models, textures and sounds.

3. I'm an inspiring game programmer and hope a game company will see my game, is impressed with my game idea and open doors for a possible job in game programming.

4. I've created games before and like the ease of using FPCS, I feel I can create a unique game using FPSC, story line, models, textures, sound and music that I can sell.

5. I'm a professional game maker (have sold games in the past) and I use FPSC as a prototype environment to see if it's marketable. I will rewrite it in a different engine and language before releasing it commercially so I can add features not available in FPSC.

6. I use it to teach game design.

Part Two:

1. I prefer to pay nothing for models, textures and sound and add credit to the creator of the above content.

2. I prefer to pay a fee to be able to use models, textures or sounds without having to add a credit to the creator of the above, but I would respect the rights of the creator and not resale, give away for free or imply I made the above content.

3. I create all my own models, textures and sounds.

Part Three:

1. I am leary of releasing any work prior to completion because the models, textures and sounds I have worked hard to create are easily copied from the game directories.

2. I don't worry about someone taking my models, textures and sounds.

one possibility: The compiled app contains code allowing it to display (in-game) an image that resides at a specific url. This "billboard" object can also have an embeded url that (when activated in-game) launches a browser and directs it to the embedded url.

@ Stewman
That would be a great way to give credit considering there is no way to make credits, like when you beat the game.

P1) 4
P2) 1 and 3(exept for the modeling part)
P3) 1 I dont like people to take my stuff without permission

some people call me selfish...but if i make my models...i will keep my models...and use my models. i dont want anybody to use them, because if they do...then we have a whole bunch of the same games floating around. of course i release models i dont use...or every once in a while i model stuff for people...but nobody uses my game models but me....read below and you wil see why...

I will sell my game...it has been in the works since early 2002. not with fpsc of course, but back then I modeled everything and prerendered about 45 min of cutscenes. when I found fpsc...I liked it and now i use it as a program to pull all of my models together. my game will release in summer 2006 complete with both multiplayer and single player and it will have full cutscene support along with having hands on the guns...just in case anyone is interested.

I am really BULLSHOCK, but my profile got deleted...really, i'm telling the truth!

sounds great, can you give us any screenshots or a little write-up on what it's about? (in a different topic of course)

When FPSC gets good enough, lets make a Redwall game!
