the other night my friend and I were playing mythII on the macs i have here, anyway we both ended up somehow finding the most commonly used word of acronym in google.

for a while there i was losing when he tried the abbreviation "com"
then i tried "www" and pwned his last score. bwhahaha!

to play this game type in a word into google and see the matching results

btw this is the current high score if anyone can beat it
Results 1 - 10 of about 3,490,000,000 for www [definition]. (0.09 seconds)
, we had been playing it for a while so many of your first guesses might overlap, however it would be nice to see a larger result as we both got stuck when i dropped that ditty

i think for this game as well one letter or symbol isnt enough min 2 letters.

the different page sizes might be due to the search engines database collecting information about webpages but also culling dead sites or dead pages etc..
it seems also that each countries web data is included, well at least google.com.au seems to be, i cant imagine it to be any different for each country etc,,

today the letters - www
using www.google.com this time
provided this result

Result 1 - 10 of about 3,420,000,000 for www [definition]. (0.09 seconds)

i wish average.matrix.net would open up the charts again they had on the internet and its speeds and usages.

Erm, doesn't a minus before a word mean find me everything that *doesn't* contain this word?

I was wondering if you could use wildcards on Google.

And suprisingly... you can

Results 1 - 10 of about 3,580,000,000 for *.*.

MUHAHAHAHAHA.

For those who have never used dos, wildcards are used to search for files, they are sort of like filters.

* means everything, so if you were searching for all the files ending in EXE you'd type. *.exe and get everything with the extension of EXE.
