I've been looking for a simple little project to try in-between making my RPG

I thought the best idea for something simple, would be to do a remake/sequel to a popular or old game.

So; has anyone got a favourite game that deserves modernising/a remake?

(I was thinking of doing a sequel to the 'Neverhood', but its story is extremely complicated )

sorry.. I missed the point... kkkk

A suggestion...

Castlevania!
I really like those fast movements...
It is of SuperNintendo...

You could make a RPG version of a platform game (did you
already played Mario RPG?)

Find a platform game of superNintendo or any other 2D console
and remake it 3D or 2D RPG =]
I found mario RPG very cool (even it being so repetitious)...

Good luck!

I wait for see your soon posting at work in progress folder, dude

Why would you want to remake that... it is perfect, well, clasic... I wouldn't want to see some big rendered alien. And the way they most of them die is pretty funny. Sort of just collapse into a big heap. How can you touch the duke?"

I would think it'd be cool to just remake the graphics and keep everything else intact Dont think it needs it cause its still awesome the way it is but if i were to remake an old game dn3d would be it. I wonder when the legendary duke nukem forever is coming out... they've remade it what 23 times now?

It's a shame Jester own the rights for GraftGold games, all of those are really worthy of a remake, I personally think with the right tools and talent, there is still some real life left in 2D.

Elder Scrolls 1: Arena
Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall
Both of these are absolutely FABULOUS games, as well as being HUGE!
only problem is that they're just a bit of an eyesore.

Morrowind sucked
but yet, ANOTHER! a game you wait TEN FREAKING MINUTES to load, THEN die right off the start (because you suck at the game, because you havnt been able to practice) then you have to wait for it to RELOAD the EXACT same thing...makes me sick

When I saw that in the arcade when I was a kid it was the first game that turned on the inner programmer inside me.

"Woah that's cool! Digitized voices! How did they do that?"

(click,click,click) <-(brain thinking)

Hmmm... voices saying phrases with color:
Red Blue Green Yellow

Voices saying character name:
warrior wizard valkyrie elf

Voices saying situations:
needs food badly! is about to die!

Combine them:
Red - warrior - is about to die!

I love that game.

Moonstone.. That was superb! I think its available from the underdogs.. Basically, you played a knights and you had to do quests across the map to gain money and special potions and stuff and evetually get 4 keys to let you into the middle bit where you get to try to defeat the baddie.. It was 4 player, turn based. After a while a dragon kept swooping over the map and you had to either avoid it altogether or try to kill it if you got caught by it.. and that was FRICKIN hard (bearing in mind you fight in a 2D side view and the dragon could breathe fire across the screen while you were fighting with a pueny (spelling?) sword!!!

The main game was an overhead view of a map.

PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS GAME!! I LOVED IT!!!

EDIT:
Just to make it easier for you
http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=743

Its been rated 8.99/10!!

EDIT 2: It is also available for free download!

Star Flight is so very desperatly in need of a remake in full 3D!
Oh yeah! That game was awesome! You basicly started out as a dude/dudess on a space station and you had to recruit a crew with various specialties (medic, navigator, engineer etc), buy a ship that you could completly customise and then fly around the universe.

You could land on loads of different planets and explore them in a buggy that could mine all the valuables, kill any alien pests you came across and discover new civilisations and try not to p*ss them off.

So much fun in 2D; 3D version would be delicious!

I'd have to say Mystic Quest for the GB. I played that game for months. It was a lot like the link games, only much older.

I must say, when I tried it, it looked rather primitive. Mind you, I didn't play it for long

I think that Blastcorps needs a remake. It was a great fun and original title and with todays vehicle physics, physics engines and deformable meshes it could be so much better.

Simple... yet fun!

I think the new "Word association" or "post 3 words" has been born...

Did anyone bother to read the first post?

Hey, sorry for the null repsonse here, I went on holiday, and managed to get my feet sun-burnt... (don't ask )

Due to the large amount of info, and nicely demanding 'PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS GAME!! I LOVED IT!!! ', I'm going to have to (at least attempt) a remake of Moonstone.

Thanks for the great response everyone.
Gonna check out all the Moonstone related sites (big thanks to Nicholas Thompson! Hopefully I'll have a WIP soon. No progress what-so ever, but I'm going to start tonight, since I've come across a very bad bug in my RPG, and I need a break)

Thanks again.

EDIT: @Merranvo, well I think remakes will be better. That way I don't (really) have any cruddy royalties to adhere to (which would be enforced on a sequel)
