For those with mind-reading and telepathy powers (or who read my world famous blog), will know that my second latop was unceremoniously removed my dewllings without my prior consent (ie it was nicked).

Fortunately this time, I had house insurance, and more fortunately they paid out. Which leads me to : Does anyone know where fake (ie cardboard/plastic) laptop-look-alikes can be found (the type that furniture shops have scattered around it make the place look homely), preferably cheaply...

The idea being to sort of catch the miscreant in the act...

Just hire my daleks to guard your new computing device. They are available for the tiny cost of 10 Skaro dollars per dalek per day.

Alternatively, you could purchase some cardboard lookalikes and hope they steal the lookalikes.

In answering your question, I dont know.

you get it to email the pictures it takes.

remember any fake laptop has to weigh about the same as a real one and can't have shifting weight distrobution (weights sliding around) or leak sand (unless you normally leave your lapotp on a beach)

Go to your local furniture store. They'll have fake computers on the computer desks, and there'll be a sticker on the bottom which will have the name of a (probably local) manufacturer of the plastic mockups .

That's how I found out... but I can't remember the name

If I looking for blog

Not necessarily (sp?). If you see some goon climb through your window (your hiding in a cupboard or under a lamshade or something similar) and they pick up your fake laptop, even if they realise it's fake and put it down you can still ask them why the hell they were climbing through your window and picking up your fake laptop for in the first place.

Unless there's more than one of them/they're armed, in which case it's best to just stay in the cupboard and pray they don't nick it.
