I am taking a class on Maya 3d and our first project was to make a toy that we picked out of a bin. I picked something that I have no idea what to call but here it is. Please post C&C. We were learning Nurbs. Note that this is not my first model altogether, merely my first with Maya.

Also one other question, is there no way to mirror an object in Maya besides scaling X negative?? That sucks! Surely there is some other way.

Pretty nice. I think it is the character 'Morph' from Disney's Treasure Planet.

I like it. Can you post a pic of the actual toy so we can compare the 2?

Sorry no I don't have the toy anymore we finished that project but I did find some pcts on google of him. Lol I had no idea he was from a movie and not just some random pink blob.

Thanks for the comments
The tail is a little different in these three pictures I notice in the toy it was sort of sticking out the side.

cool, just the single tip at this stage, the material, loose the specular effect, try going for a softer and more cartoony material, cel shade as well maybe, just to give the model a nicer look, it looks pretty good though Good luck with the lessons (I should find a place that does lessons, Cinema 4D customer services said bedford college, they were wrong grrrr)

yay Morph! I love this lil guy.. actually I loved the whole damn film.
While set in the fantasy future, it is quite true to the original book.

Definately interesting to seeing people using curves in that way.usually you'd want to use a mesh cage (as it provides more control, and use a curve loft for creating the rough shape.

Does look interesting though.

Ya I would have used a mesh as well but It was for the part where we are learning nurbs so I had to. And for the specular I was using the reference of a bath toy and it was made out of plastic so it was pretty shiny.

I'll join the chorus. Very nice model! Kinda makes you want to make a game out of it. Good job!

I edit my posts, and so should you!

I was thinking that too, a game featuring him could be pretty fun/funny to play. That model is a little high poly and it is nurbs tho. And seppuku, I think they are talking about the floor reflection, not the model itself :p
