This is another thing I made in maya...Unfortunately I dont' have the maya file so I re-made it in blender. Therefore the lightning effect isn't quite as good looking but its ok. This is the first time I've actually changed the lighting from the default :p
Its a very simple model, it was our "first character project'. I went a little beyond the reference and made glow effects and the lightning between his...antenae(spelling?)



Am I an Idiot...or is everyone else just really smart?

i cant actually see much, just some eyes and ears and some faint claws, it cant be that hard to just shove in an omni light right :p.

Here it is a little lighter. I want it to be pretty dark so that the eyes stand out.

why is it a robot of doom? I've seen scarier pink and girly flowers than that One ate my dog.....wait I don't have a dog.............. I know why, the FLOWERS MAN, take down more people a day than the black death would in a year........

Well....hes a robot of doom because...well umm...he has glowing eyes? And big pointy claws dont' forget those. Maybe he should have piink and girly flowers on his head

that would be a great idea.....reminds me of the robots on the game spongebob squarepants : Battle for Bikini bottom, thats one sweet game, and funny, I like the new movie one as well,

Looks like a normal childs toy... Doesn't it?... inside this visualy harmless object is knives, lazers and guns. on the touch of this object, it will become fully automated and destroy you. I couldn't render the mechanics... Not because i'm lazy ..... Its because who ever touches it dies in a split second so you cant glimpse how it works. And i dont have a high speed camera or a test subject. This is my Robot of Doom!!

I like your model. Especialy the glowing effects.. Hmmm glow. And its annoying me now, because you've inspired me to create a robot of doom. and i've just got too many thigs on the go to start creating robots of dooms right now. Keep up the good work!

I was thinking for thos spikey things on his head, i don't know about maya but cinema 4d has a plugin called 'bolt' which generates the lightning bolt effect from a to b, so you could find something in maya instead of using that blue thing

Maya 6 should have a built in electric effect I think I saw it in the PLE if not never mind i dont use Maya but just a thought
