Burger King...shall we get some money?

So, my dad stopped by Burger King for lunch today, just a normal stop to get some food. As he was driving he started eating. He noticed it was a little odd, then all of the sudden...he realised it was a BANDAID in his chicken nugget! Cooked right in! Disturbing it must have been. Just curious if you people think it's worth trying to get some money from? He saved the rest of the meal and have chewed bandaid/nugget for evidence and is going to call them up today, will just see what happens from there i suppose

Could probably get a lot of money if you tried. Not saying it's the right thing to do, just saying you could.

even if it had aids it would be rather hard to contract it from cooked foods, i dont think that a refund would be good enough, imo refunds are for when something doesnt work right or it doesnt deliver what was promised id prefer a compensation payment nothing too big maybe 100$ would be satisfactory, afterall you were chewing on a plaster/bandair which is rather grosse.

They just might compensate you not because they are worried about you *snicker* getting sick or disgusted or unsatisfied but becuase they want to keep stuff like this quiet. (Plus to stop thousands of people from purposely dumping bandaids into thier meals and whining about it)

A guy once found a long rusty rod in his coka-cola glass. He only got 2 coupons for more free Cola...so don't expect too much.

Totally right. Leys, complaining just for money is a despicable, greedy thing to do. Not saying that's what you (or your Dad) are trying to do, but it's not the right thing to do.

You can complain, but don't do it simply because you wan't to score something for yourself at the expense of an honest mistake by somebody working Burger King.

People in the UK need to stop the growing trend of blaming each other and turn the tide on 'compensation society' because it's a bad way to go. Look at America.

Fact: what Burger King serves shouldn't actually defined as 'food', it should be (more accurately) referred to as "reconstituted biological matter of a 'farm animal' origin". Same thing goes for McDonalds.

Also, I passed this by my parents and they asked an interesting question:
"Was the bandaid blue?"
The reason is because the world catering industry standard requires all 'bandaids' (we called then elastoplasts or plasters in the UK) should be blue in restaurants because there is nothing you can find in a kitchen that is large and blue so they cannot be accidentally dropped in the food! If it wasn't blue then they were running that kitchen at below industry safety requirements.

You can eat it. It's food. The blue bandaid thing is true, anybody working in a kitchen needs to cover all of their cuts with blue bandaids, it's the law.

What's the problem with suing legitimately? You have a problem with ALL American lawsuits? Greedy? How is it?? If I found a bandaid in my burger I would sue for as much as I could get.

I doubt that would be the case anyway, idk exactly what my dad wants to do, but they would probably pay him off before it could even get to court...best to keep things not so public.

@Leys - I agree. Just settle and be over with it. Remember even if your dad goes to court, he will have to pay a substantial amount of money.

I dont know but I was never brought up like this... My grandma broke both her arms when she slipped at work... She didnt sue for a penny... If she had of done, she would have lost her job!

And heres some idiot american trying to sue for all he can get just from finding a plaster in a burger...

Sorry but... Suing like that is just as bad as stealing imho...

I guess thats whats so different about UK and US attitudes.

in england atleast plasters must be blue for use in a kitchen enviroment,

@DBAlex i agree with you, every day on the uk tv i see adverts saying did you trip or fall at your workplace blah blah, and they show someone having an accident one where a woman picks up a crate of bottles and sprains her arm, like how dumb is that.

but imo falling over anywhere is totally your fault unless someone physically trips you over, but i think fiding a foreign body in your food is totally different to slipping on a wet surface as tripping on a object is avoidable by opening your eyes but finding something in food is undetectable unless you have x-ray vision.

Go for the undertable pay off, and don't be too picky about the amount. Grab what they'll give you and leave them alone.

The difference between staples and BK is that BK tastes good.

This hardly deserves a lawsuit. Here in Britain, most people get really annoyed when we see Americans suing each other for nothing - it just doesn't happen here because it is a ridicoulos (sp). (Although, it's starting to become more commonplace)

Do you like it when somebody complains and whines about something? Even when it wasn't very big? Complaining after an accident to bag some money is greedy. (One involving a plaster no less) It really annoys me reading about lamoids in the newspaper suing for nothing.

It's not like your complaint is helping the company either, people in the future will have band-aids in there food, too.

I say sue 'em. My dad says sue 'em, and my momma says sue 'em. So, sue 'em.

God only knows what could've been on that thing. Was it rolled up like it had been used by someone beforehand?

Matter of fact, I'm off to get some KFC very shortly.

I'd hardly expect they deliberately dropped it in out of spite, it was merely an accident. Settling for a couple free meals sounds reasonable enough for me.

Yes it's disgusting, but it's hardly worth a lawsuit. I mean, can you claim loss of earnings as a direct result? Can you claim permanent psychological damage? Hell No. I agree that BurgerKing could (and maybe should) be fined for such low health and safety standards (I don't want someone cooking my food who's had to cover up a wound, let alone them dropping it on my burger) but that money shouldn't go to the claimant.

Why should you profit? Don't get me wrong, if I had the opportunity to get a coupla Gs I wouldn't say no, but not through this method.

I'm with most of the UKers on this one. Whenever I see a guy with a clipboard on the street asking me if I've had an accident in the past 5 years (or whatever) I just wanna punch him. And then sue him because I cut my knuckle on his face. We should do all we can to stop becoming an overly-letigious society.

You can't really sue BK for a bandade, but you can take a different aproach.

Sue them under the grounds that there are people working with open cut sores. This (I think) IS illigal because of all those bad virus' out there that you can get from contact with another persons' blood. Even a Bandade is a bad remedy for blocking blood flow.

If you choose to sue. Make sure that something other then money comes out of it.

So true, sometimes you just have to use common sense.

About the plaster, I wouldnt sue but I would claim compensation. Ley's dad noticed it, everythings fine. But if the BK flipper as a virus or is HIV positive, then that plaster would have had his blood on it. It is VERY unhigenic and I would take the route of health and food standards, write a formal complaint to BK and the food standards regulator, See where it goes from there.

J

p.s. Have any of you ever watched Judge Judy? It is more than likely fake but I find it SO funny to see some things American people sue for.

no... that's not greedy.

don't sue, you don't have a case. I'd take the offending burger into the shop and politely but firmly suggest that they offer some compensation

@Megaton - Unfortunately (or fortunately, however you look at it), I wasn't joking. There was a small exaggeration in there, but I would make a HUGE stink if I spat out a half-chewed bloody band-aid in my burger.

First of all that's one of the grossest things you could find inside of a burger, short of a finger or an eyeball. Secondly, the company NEEDS to know what it did wrong, and they need to reprimand the teen (that's just a guess) whose bloody stump said band-aid fell from in this crime.

I wouldn't say if I'd sue unless it actually hapens to me (God forbid).
