You have to build a circular tower, brick by brick in this tetris inspired puzzler. The pieces drop from above and you can spin the tower around to put them in place (you can also rotate the pieces of course). Thankfully this isn't as complex as it sounds - the pieces don't rotate in 3D for example, it's more just a 360 degree tetris build, and a far better and most addictive game because of it.

This is a great game. I love the Tetris roots, but the 3D nature of that - but also the fact that it's not as damn confusing as those 3D tetris game where the pieces all rotate in 3 axis! Arrggh, they drive me insane!

But this is pure class. My only comment would be that at certain tower heights, from certain angles, the tower is very dark (and the falling pieces are too). Also I would loved to have seen a "where will this piece land" marker on the tower itself, especially for the larger falling pieces.

It receives my 3rd place vote.

Wow... thanks everybody! Your votes mean a lot to me! I'm glad that people have found the time to enjoy my game when their is such a sea of talent to choose from here... So many great looking games have been submitted, and I can't wait to try them all.

I'd love to hear highscores/what level you make it to( there are five levels, each with there own theme and music.) Just for fun, try and beat my highscore:

70100 points, with 142 stacks (All this information and more is in the Readme file included)

If you beat this score, congradulations! Your officially more decated than me, my own desperate beta tester. Good luck to all!

Well I have to admit I wasn't overly excited before I downloaded this but i was totally wrong.

Most 3D tetris games just don't work so I didn't expect this to but this retains the classic 2D gameplay of the original.

The graphics aren't great but that doesn't matter.....I'm more interested in the gameplay.

As I've said it's essentially Tetris but the couple of little twists add new life to the game. The round play area adds new strategic possibilities and the way the tower builds and the "game over height" changes is great.

My only complaint is that it needs an indicator for where the block will land. Oh and configurable keys would be good.

Anyway this is the game I've spent the most time playing and one of the few I can see myself playing again.

1st place.

This game is awesome and can see me playing this a lot. Due to me playing all the compo entries today I have only played it once up to 20 stacks, but I enjoyed every second of it.

Yes, it's only Tetris, but what a great new interpretation of it.

I have awarded you 3rd place

This definly the best game I tryed so far. Too bad i can't vote.
My hiscore is 28110 58 stacks and 8 mistakes (but i will try to improve it ) (i played ~7 times)
Well at first game it looks hard even to enter higscore table. And i even thougt that higscores and new level marks are to big, but after some practice i am improved my skills.

Suggetion:
next detail: it would be helpfull sometimes.
about indicator where detail will land, I almost didn't make that type of mistakes, but maybe with it i could play a little bit faster.

Its in my 'consider voting' pile.

I agree FB,

This is definitely the first 3D tetris-style game that I played and truly liked. It's gonna take me some work (and time!) to get enough points to unlock the extra stuff. But I'll keep trying

Great submission, Sam.

Wow, I never released I'd hit such a chord by leaving the 2d element of the gameplay intact! To tell you the truth I've never really played any other 3d tetris before, but it never really sounded like it would be much fun. (With 360 degree rotation and all) For me, the addictiveness of tetris was always the fast pace and simplicity.

Thanks for the comments

Yes as mentioned this is a refreshingly original interpretation of 2D Tetris. A couple gameplay issues I've found: only 180 degree rotation, next piece a mystery, not really knowing when you completed a ring (at least for me), and mouse sensitivity.

The graphics were good. The music was nice, too. Overall a solid game, this is going in my vote pile.

I'm not a real programmer but I play one with DBPro!

Great game! I quite liked it, for some reason, i have to force myself to remember which arrow turns the camera which way, so i wouldnt mind having an option to change keys (or is there? it was late when i played it) this is most definantly a game i'll keep playing. But it wasnt quite as fun as a few others I played, but it's most definantly 3rd place material:

This gets a 2nd place vote from me.
Excellent variation on the Tetris idea.
THE best 3D version of Tetris I have played.

The only bad thing I could say about this game was that the music suffers from the odd pause (probably the same MP3 decompression delays I have encountered and had to fix in my game). I also don't really like the font you have used, but the fact that you have captured the addictiveness of the original Tetris but added your own 3D twist is an amazing thing. Well done.

That's it !
When I look for games here, I want something easy to use and not reading a 10 pages manual first to understand the basics of a game.
You succeeded to get the best parts of Tetris in your game, so : Congratz.

I love the game and especially the idea. It has allot of even greater potential with the user adventually getting all the pieces to a castle perhaps section by section. Great work second place

Quite good, just that the landscape wasn't very detailed.

My programs on average: 500-2000 lines
An average GameCube game: 5000+
Windows XP: Too much to fit on this screen.

I finally unlocked extra stuff with score 61280 107 stack 12 mistakes. I still didn't beat your score .
Althoug i like this game most of this competition some parts of it could be improved:
pause feature the game is quite long ~20 minutes.
show next detail It would make game a little easier but also would add some more planing
[b]brightness[/n] I think game is too dark especialy in the shadow area. A had to adjust my monitor brightness to 100% to make it playbe especialy on level 4.

Kudos go out to Arturas, the first person to unlock the extras! (As far as I know.)

Also, thanks for the many fine suggestions... they would all improve the game, and I may well add them after the competition is over(no fair changing them now and all...)

Also, a word of warning as to beating my highscore(This means you, Arturas): A small bug has come to my attention that will cause problems on the highscore page. This only occurs at very highscores (such as mine.) It does not effect gameplay at all, but you may lose your extras

I have already completed an updated version that fixes this error, along with correcting a few typoes

Anyone planning to tackle my highscore should wait until the update is released (probably tommorrow) before doing so. There are no improvements or changes to the gameplay, graphics, etc. in the new version, so the original competition edition is what should still be used for judging, of course!

Beating my highscore is no easy task either! I have attempted it 4-5 times the other day, and failed miserably! Good luck, and enjoy!

(Btw... Spyware search and destroy only kills my game? this is prejudice!)

I love the concept, but the movement is way too jerky, what I'd've done is have the camera free moving and lock the blocks to the cylindrical grid, that would've made the game so much easier. Also, having the blocks slide slowly downwards would've helped make it easier.

The graphics are nice, and fit the concept and setting. With some further work I think this could become quite a good little game.

Unfortunately it didn't hit me quite in the way of some of the others, so although I like it, I can't put it in my top 4, sorry.

I don't suffer from insanity - I enjoy every minute of it!

Thanks for all your comments guys! As promised, I have uploaded a version of the game that won't screw up the highscore file at very high scores. So, if you decide to take the challenge of beating my score (After judging the original, of course) then download this fixed version! Thanks for all the support, and enjoy!

I think this game is great, it takes tetris and puts it in 3D while still maintaining the ease of play that comes with the 2D version (http://www.govergames.co.uk/tetris ) It's addictive to play and lasts ages, even though I'm only up to level 2. The graphics and music, while technically not as spectacular as other entries, are still good and fit with the style of the game. There are a few problems which prevented me giving this 1st place though, the way pieces are mirrored/rotated 180 degrees is a bit disconcerting, although technically they wouldn't fit at all if rotated 90 degrees. Also the lack of a next piece indicator makes it harder. So, a well deserved 4th place

Well, after the long hours of slaving at making and testing this game (while I SHOULD have been studying for my summer course!), I'm gonna give it second place. I put a lot of effort into this, and I'm pleased that I finally made a game worth playing! (Not like the last compo I participated in... lets all try and pretend that Fury never happened.)

Also, thanks to everyone who has commented so far, and special thanks to those who chose to vote for me! Its been exciting, and I'm glad that people are appreciating and enjoying my work!

Pro's:
GREAT take on Tetris!
Unique spin on the puzzle element.
Funky Music.
Nice graphics.
Good soun effects.
Addictive play.

Con's:
Controls are WAY too sensitive!
Repedative visuals for the bricks.
No Pause feature for such a long-lasting game.

Comments:
Great game!
Very fun to play, and try to beat my own high score. But, EXTREMELY frustrating with the sensitivity of the mouse! Even with my Mouse Motion turned to slowest, it was too sensitive. And playing with the keyboard is just as bad!
On the same negative note, I found that after a while of staring at the same coloured bricks for so long, my eyes would cross, and I'd lose focus, and not be able to see the difference in bricks... Maybe just me, but it could have been avoided with some variation in the bricks themselves Like slight colour offsets, etc.
Definatly some votes from me

Congradulations to all the winners, and good job to everyone who participated. Its been fun!
