looks nice, you got the idea of modelling chess pieces, and I see you took advantage of the shaders, next i'd say apply HDRI, to give it that wow look, so you're taking advantage to rendering tools too

Thankyou for your comments,
@darkcoder: yeah ive got to make it slightly less transparent its abit hard to see whats what,
@Seppuku: Whats a HDRI?, i made the chess pieces with splines and the lathe so i only know how to make simple object in 3dsmax.
@Peace: no its done in 3dsmax i have no idea how to use darkbasic lol, im buying in the near future well tuesday and then i will learn the programming language. Then probably a chess games in order.
Its abit wierd i only started to model because i broke my ankle a week ago and im glad i did its fun.
Updates coming soon to this model.

hdri is high dynamic range imaging
its basically the reflection you get when you take a photo on an object, and the bith that are reflecting light to you get uhh, ill try again

say your taking a render of a bed, and the bed frame is metal you would want it to reflect the image of a bedroom, then you could apply the frame with a hdri effect and it will use your image (fishbowl style) and use it asif it were the reflection off a render. hope that made sence

basically its basing the reflection off an image of your choice they look really nice but I dont use it that much.

its not just reflection HDRI provides its all the lighting information for the scene as well so you need no lights in your scene just a large invisible sphere mapped with the HDRI image and HDRI turned on in your render settings

yup that pretty much explains it to add to your render time you could use radiosity to capture an even nice look, I mean if you take advantages of rendering you can make stills look really good, as they are ment to
