I've never really modelled anything before so i thought i might have a go.

Here is a picture of a sword which i did. Could anyone tell me if it looks ok to use in a game. And how i could improve it.
Thanks
Jozers

Theres a gap between the blade and the hand guard you should connect them a little better. .really good for a first model though keep up the good work.

well its good, heck I've seen all these 'my first model' threads and well this is the best one, I guess you learnt before you tried, sooooo....I'd say yeah its good for a game. The image is a little small to give any pointers, but I'll try to do my best, on the guard by the handle, you will see a few little abnormalities, i'll show you what I mean.

try to play with the vertices a bit to make it flat, if you could take a screenshot of a wireframe or isosparms of it so I can see if you have any problems in geometry.

Great sword though, with a little bit of texture that will look ever better, awesome for a first model

It looks kinda like a stake...

In your first one, do you sharpen the edges? It lookes very oval but then again, it might be the angle.

I don't really know how to texture objects. I have tried but i don't understand how to use the UV mapper and planner in Gamespace.
Does tatto have a UV mapper nd planner?? Because it might be easier to use or could some one explain how to us the UV mapper and planner in caligari GameSpace.

I've never textured before so this is new to me. Does anyone know of any good tutorials??

Cheers

What should i try and model now?? I don't think i would be able to model characters and monsters yet, but should i give one a try.
Or should i keep doing swords until i am confident enough to do characters

don't go for characters yet is a good choice, try to model various simple objects first, you could always annoy me and join the club and make a gun (why is it always a gun ) or try some other things and well your skills will improve each time, but I'd say each time do a hard object, you've done a sword, so next could be something a lil harder
