You need an alpha channel in the tga for the transparency.

Tip : find a default tga pic used for any of the default screen text messages. Copy it somewhere and rename your copy so you dont mess up the original and use the copy to study how the alpha channel works. You will need to open it in a paint program that supports tga with transparency to do that.

hope that helps

Default transparency colour is black.

Where a pic is located - not off hand I have not looked for those particular text pics myself, my system that runs FPSC is not even switched on at the moment.

Look for any item using a transparency - find its script file - open it in notepad - look to see where the location of its texture is.

Make copies of every thing you touch - and change nothing if you know not what you are doing. Backup first thats best.
